Post-kids swimsuit- one piece or bikini? Advice needed!

I own a navy Speedo suit for 'proper' swimming and a Top Shop string bikini that looked great when I was 21.

Have concluded I need something new for summer holiday- but what?

I'm a size 8. My norks have shrunk 3 cup sizes since having kids and need some serious boosting up. Also my stomach muscles sometimes forget themselves (when I'm enjoying myself too much to hold themselves in). On the plus side, I'm fairly toned and slim and have no stretch marks on tummy.

So questions are:

  • is a bikini on a 35 year old mother of two slightly indecent (for British beach/ lido)?
  • if not, would a bikini be better than one-piece at accentuating my good bits and hoiking up the boobs?
  • Anyone got any specific tips re style/ print to go for?

thanks!

I wear a bikini on holiday because swimsuits emphasise top of my thighs and make body look like an encased sausage; whilst bikini draws attention to better bits: waist and norks. Also buying bikini separates means I can get proper nork-support, while I've never managed to find a swimsuit with a large enough cup-size that didn't then gape and billow elsewhere.

thanks Heated. Sounds like you have a different shape from me- oh how I wish I had to worry about getting a large enough cup size!

I will keep an eye on the Boden sale, they have a couple of nice bikinis. Otherwise I hear Seafolly are good (if expensive)...

I'd say go for a bikini, I don't think it is indecent at any age, and the Europeans certainly don't either!

Actually, my best advice is to wear what you are most comfortable in.

I have no boobs either and tend to favour the slightly padded bra style bikini tops over the halterneck ones so I don't look too flat chested.
