Dress me for work?

I’m retiring to my job as a primary school teacher after a year off on maternity and none of my pre-pregnancy clothes fit right. I haven’t gone up a dress size, it’s just that my body has changed shape!
I’m looking for some capsule items that I can put together to create outfits I feel confident in!
I’m a size 10/12 hourglass, only 5ft 3in. I’m a deep winter, mid 30s. I tend to favour skirts and dresses over trousers.
Being able to layer is important! My classroom goes from being as hot as the sun to freezing no matter the season.

I’ve been searching for weeks but I’m just so lost on what to buy. I’m definitely high street, not high end - I tend to get pen/paint/glue on something at least once a week!

Jewel colours are exactly what I’d love to see but everywhere seems to be beige, burnt orange and khaki!

@Gerbera55 I know you said dresses but trousers, skirts and shirts can be inter-changed so are flexible. I think
the camel colours are chic and professional but you will get jewel colours coming in a bit later. I find dresses a bit one dimensional in that you cannot mix and match items. Wearing a navy/white top with denim one day and then navy trousers on another day will make the clothes work harder. Capsule skirts and trousers with a variety of tops and cardigans will be very versatile - in my view.

Deep winter?

Those colours are much more suited to autumn colouring, maybe spring - definitely warmer than the shades that will suit you best. Though some of the pieces are good basics.

This is a bit more detailed than the usual stuff online, & gives some helpful tips. But you will easily find black/navy/forest green in the shops, along with cooler stone/taupe shades?? And add some cool burgundy/dark red/teal etc as accents until more of these shades appear this autumn?

If its dresses you want, and your not too fussy about style/design, id go to my nearest posh town and hit all the charity shops.

If then strategically fill/replace/upgrade anything i didnt find and anything I used more often than anything else.

Ive always got together a starter wardrobe this way.

Ages ago a poster on here said she was buying 5 tops, 2 pairs of trousers ,a skirt and a jacket and that was her work clothes. If you want dresses you could get them from charity shops or from Vinted and eBay. If you are going to buy trousers then you could also add a few jumpers that you already have or can buy. You could look at good brands if you are using vinted. I hope you enjoy wearing your new clothes.

I end up with jersey dresses usually as so easy to wear, not a teacher but public fronting similar with small kids/elderly/sen adults etc. pattern definitely as hides spills, straight in the washing machine, I’ve got a few! Also got black trousers (George at Asda) and a few patterned tops. I don’t overthink it, comfort over fashion
