How would you style this dress for a dressy dinner date?

Seeing a very nice man for a fourth date in a French restaurant and I’d like to dress up. Just bought this, and I love the colour but would probably swap out the belt. How should I style this and what should I wear over it if the weather cools?

Or plain cream/beige (warmer than your greyish one). Also all Massimo Dutti, bar the last which is a Jigsaw one.

Footwear-wise, only wear heels if you're sure they're comfy! I like these (though how the hell are they a "loafer"?!!! There's also a rather nice-looking clutch.)

Tan is exactly the direction I’d head in, especially as it’s such a versatile colour (love it with white or blue or black denim, but everything really).

I'd pick up the texture and colour of the belt, the first posters reply is perfect . Or similar in wedges.

I see hacks like that all the time - for adjusting trousers, sleeves, hems ... & I think "how clever" - but I just know that I'd go out in public & forget all about the safety pins & elastic bands holding me & my outfit together & there'd be a sartorial disaster!!

So my second thought on such hacks is - could anyone really be arsed ...?!!!!

Red looks lovely with tan accessories in summer, so no to the grey from me. Those grey shoes look too heavy for this dress. PPs who suggested pointed tan kitten heels, spot on. Pair with a raffia or slouch tan handbag, pics attached, lots of cheaper similar options around though. Have a great time OP

Its boiling outside. I dont think jacket is needed at all. Mind you I am from North East & we never wear a jacket for going out even in Winter! Lovely dress !

The first time I visited Leeds, decades ago, I was in a cafe in November while the wind howled outside. I've never seen so many erect nipples under clothing - male & female - in my life, & not a jacket to be seen on anyone!!!

Sorry but if you want a Male point of view it does not work, a longer dress looks great if it is swinging and floaty but this to be totally honest, looks a mess. I am sorry to say this but you surely want the truth.

People on here are talking about wearing jackets but at the moment in greater London it is boiling and a jacket is totally unnecessary.

This is the same dress in two different prints. It looks pretty darn floaty to me? Luckily, we all have different truths & different tastes. I think the red dress (& the floral versions) is really nice.

We don't know when the date is, we don't know where the OP lives, & if there's anything that can be predicted about UK weather, it's that it is mainly unpredictable ...

I'm in Edinburgh & we have had a few cooler evenings. If I was out for dinner, I'd still grab a lightweight jacket to throw on at midnight, especially if there's some walking/travelling involved.

grey won’t work, nude is not the way. I’d go for a slightly chunky 1970s style sandal

I’d wear flat gold sandals with that. I’d feel overdressed in any sort of heel. The short cream trench idea is nice plus a black or tan crossbody bag. Clutches feel dated?
