Recommendations for a comfortable quality backpack for days out with children

Recommendations please for a nice rucksack/ backpack? Looking for a good quality backpack to take for day out with the kids
tried fjallraven kanken and hated it found it hard and rigid to use and difficult to get anything out of it. Also tried Roka and found it uncomfortable and difficult to get things out
need to fit in spare clothes snacks lunchbox and all the other kid bits!

I have a black Nike backpack which works well for me.

Sounds like you need a quite a big one . Maybe try a day pack hiking one from an outdoor shop . Suggest one with padded straps for comfort .

It’s light and soft, has two bottle holders and lots of internal pockets. I just ran it through the washing machine (on a delicate cycle) and it’s come out really well.

Kipling Seoul ones, they come in different sizes. And the advantage is that you can sling it in the washing machine. It's got tons of pockets, and bottle holders on the side. I've had the same one for about 10 years now and it goes on days out/holidays with us constantly. My grandkids also use it now for school trips!

If you're willing to spend more for a better "carry" experience then i woud strongly advise searching ebay for Goruck Bullet Ruck 18L DC Robic and picking that one up at £150
Its a clamshell so you can basically open it wide like a book or suitcase and find stuff instantly which saves forraging about searching for things at the bottom.
2 compartments, great pocketing and organisation, and super comfortable. Robic is a great material as its lightweight and water resistant.

The best backpack I have for days out and for comfort and space is actually a backpack that’s designed and marketed as cabin baggage.

It has multiple compartments. Clips around the sides and also to clip around you.

it expands massively but also if quite empty it’s not hugely bulky.

I’ve been known to walk miles with it whilst also pushing ds in his wheelchair.

I actually broke the zip of one of how being compartments when we went or London in Easter and although the backpack is fine I’m considering replacing it anyway.

I’ve seen some nice ones on mountain warehouse and decathlon.

We used a north face Borealis backpack as a ‘nappy bag’. It lasted years and years with 2 children. The elastic straps on the front of it were useful for overflowing coats and things.

If that’s too expensive Decathlon do a good range of backpacks in all sizes. I’d recommend 30l size
