I make Voxy running shorts my summer casual "uniform"?

Pretty much all summer I am either running, on my way to a run, have just run or will be running later, or some other form of exercise.

I was thinking of treating myself to some of these https://voxyofficial.com/collections/running-shorts?srsltid=AfmBOopnTYzPeHjC428zyj0MRttI6LQ-BYYkvSPXUXsGW8GbyQa8M8bX 2 in 1 running shorts and pretty much living in them for the summer and on holiday.

I'd have some bright running vests to go with them - not the bra tops on the site.

I'm tall, slim and athletic, but not tanned (like the models) and there's no denying my skin tone on my legs isn't what it was.

I've never been stylish or fashionable, but I had my colours done years ago and avoid black, which makes running kit tricky, plus I like these!

So, 1. Can I wear running kit all day? 2. Will I look ridiculous in this kit?

I know, wear what you like, but we all like to think we look OK?

I've not seen Voxy shorts before - they look great! Wear the shorts.

Frankly, I'm envious of your running/swimming/yoga life - I hope I'm looking forward to that lifestyle when I retire :-)

It's only for the summer 🤣

Well whatever makes you happy, but when I saw those my first thought was that I would only wear those to make me go faster to make it less likely I should meet someone I know! They are truly horrible.

Whyherewego · 03/08/2026 17:46

I love liner shorts and wear them all the time. I dress with intent so if I am due a run I will wear running gear to ensure I do actually run that day. I think these ones look fab and I say go girl

UnintentionallyFabulous · 03/08/2026 17:57

If it suits you then do it.
I prefer to change. I’ve had a similar day to you (swimming, gym, shopping, gardening, housework, cooking) but if I hadn’t got changed my exercise stuff would be sweaty and dirty from gardening, smell of cooking and I spilled a cup of tea down my front!

Busybookworm · 03/08/2026 18:04

No particular opinion on the shorts but please tell me the secret to having that much energy. I am 10 years younger but feel like I need a lie down just reading about your day. HRT, supplements, magic potions, kale smoothies - what is missing from my life that I can copy from yours? Genuine question (and apologies for asking on a S&B thread)

I'd guess the main differences between me and you (and the person I was 10 years ago) are that DC are now adults, I'm single, and I am starting to wind down my previously full on career and very ambitious persona.

It's brought out here a lot, but I don't think you can over estimate the draining effect that being responsible for "everything" has on you.

Wear what the fuck you want.

i was going to say i quite like the look of them as well, but then i got a temu-style spin the wheel for your exclusive offer, so that to me screams cheap and nasty, and I’d steer well clear.

But yes, I’d wear that style in this heat.

Yes, I'm always wary when a brand pops up on FB, but I've done a lot of research on this brand and the reviews are really good.

I’ve had a quick look - they’re supposed to be a small company based in London, but have no company address. They are registered to a generic central London office, with one person acting as secretary and director. She is fillipino, with the Philippines listed as country of residence.

reviews mention having to pay customs charges on receipt of the parcels.

yeah, not convinced. Reviews can be paid for, but they clearly aren’t the “small British” company they claim to be.

pointyshoes · 03/08/2026 18:38

I wear voxy shorts for running and Pilates. With the inner shorts they don’t come up too high. Super comfortable .
ive ordered from them twice (I’m in the UK) and the stuff has arrived within a couple of days, no problems at all

The reviews for customs charges were for deliveries to US, with Trump's tariffs and they've stopped shipping to US as a result.

Wrong company, Sherlock. It's Voxy Ltd you should be looking at. Two British directors, one female, has an Instagram and tags Voxy.

itsgettingweird · 03/08/2026 18:53

Yanbu.

I have a few pairs of shirts like this and live in them over the summer.

Woyj crocs, flip flops or trainers. With t shirt, running vest or bikini top.

They are quick drying so today I went for a paddleboard and kept them on with a cropped bikini top and had a surf t shirt on .

Wear what makes you feel cool and comfy.

dogsmaid · 03/08/2026 19:02

I don’t like the shorts personally but nothing wrong with someone wearing them all day if it suits your lifestyle.

HeidiLite · 03/08/2026 19:03

if you want without pattern, halara 2-in-1 shorts are also very comfortable and many come with matching tops and/or sports bras.

mrsrobin · 03/08/2026 19:31

I am a 58 year old jogger - I would definitely wear them - and I am no honed athlete shape!

Well done OP. I have one DC left at home. I don't want them to leave, but if/when they do I will certainly be increasing my workouts.

I am a 50 something runner too. I am in better shape/ more toned and lean than I have ever been as a result of all the running, weights and pilates I do.

I might just treat myself to a pair (or 2) of these.

GrandmasCat · 04/08/2026 08:14

I think it is ok, women do the school run in their pijamas, surely wearing sports clothes all day is not as bad?

pointyshoes · 04/08/2026 08:55

Poppystone · 03/08/2026 23:08

Thank you. What is the sizing like?

About right I think. I’m an 8-10 but with a bigger stomach and the small are perfect for me.
for reference, I’m usually an 8 at M &S.
everytime I wear them someone always compliments me on them . Really well made with nice fabric

So, I ordered them c.5pm yesterday, on standard (free) delivery and they've just arrived. Very nice too.

I am 55 and play competitive tennis in my free time and often walk around in my tennis kit (skirt and vest) and I just do not care

i even went into the supermarket like that, on my way to a match

my legs are just legs and nobody has fainted at the sight of my ageing body in a skort just yet

I looked at the running shorts and think they look cool!

Chocolateteabag · 05/08/2026 08:25

@Poppystone- how do you find the sizing? Same as the PP? What size are you and what size did you go for? (If you don’t mind me asking)

50+ runner too - I normally wear Sturdy by design cycle shorts but as my running increases and chub rub decreases, I’d like to try some different options
