Summer wedding guest dress ideas please

Hello

After a dress for an upcoming wedding. Early 40s size 14 😭 (post baby) but on the shorter side. Rectangle body shape but curvy & large chested so no thin straps. I’m a dark winter, but no green allowed for the wedding.

Fit and flare or A-line would work well, or a dress with a slit. No to high necks. Don’t mind some frills, fun, pattern.

Please help me find a contemporary dress 😁 I liked some of the options that were shared (on a recent wedding guest thread here) from Anthropolgie, M&S, & Boden.

Budget about £100 or less.

If I had a different body I would be rocking a beautiful silky number from Omnes/&Other stories/Reiss.

You always have great site recommendations too!

Thank you for all the suggestions. I’ll have to respond properly at home and open all the links.

The shirring will make my bust look even bigger, as are some high neck styles depending on the fit. Short sleeves are a funny one for me, as they can made me look even broader.

This one may be a contender but not sure I’m a sateen kind of girl.

@DRose3

Something which I think looks really good on petites is a sleek line, OP.

Petite women can be swamped by lots of fabric; it adds width.

Less fabric and a sleeker line is more flattering.

I think that a length somewhere between the knee and mid-calf flatters, too.

It's cotton sateen though, which is lustrous but not overly shiny? Worth a try? Especially as it's the kind of dress that can be worn with lots afterwards?

If you're attending a summer wedding, I'd lean toward lightweight fabrics like lawn, cotton blends, or subtle embroidered outfits in soft floral or pastel shades. They stay comfortable in warm weather while still looking dressy enough for the occasion. I recently came across a collection featuring embroidered suits and elegant sequin dresses that gave me a few styling ideas. It updates regularly, so it's useful for seeing current seasonal styles even if you're just comparing outfit ideas.
