If you're 5'2 and under, where are you buying your wide leg summer trousers???

I'm looking for lightweight, flowy trousers, plain so no garnish printed stuff to wear with a tight ish top. I'm size 12.

Fed up of trawling the net.

I often look for cropped trousers, tesco had some but I didnt like the colour.
Im under 5ft and trousers are a pain, even petite is often too long. But I recently bought some linen blend balloon trousers from next petite. They said they were full length. They are a good fit on me ....but I cant imagine they are full length on anyone over 5ft!
I also have some wide leg linen cargo trousers from next petite

I disagree! I’ve always avoided them for this reason, but recently got a pair from Fatface who do a short length and have never had so many compliments. They’re very drapy and the shape is not exaggerated which seems to make them very flattering.

Same! For a long time i convinced myself id look like a tombliboo if I wore wide leg trousers (im less than 5ft) but I got some kids wide leg jeans and wide leg cargo trousers last year and if I wear them with a tight or fitted top I think they are flattering and give me a waist!

EssCarGo · 15/07/2026 08:31

Just buy trousers that fit you well and get them taken up. It always looks better!

M&S and they have short and extra short, the only place I’ve found that actually don’t look ridiculous on me (I’m 5ft)

MotherOfSoManyCats · 15/07/2026 08:39

I know its frowned upon, but I get mine from Temu ... they fit well, wash well and dont need shortening. I am 5'2"

I'm 5ft I have some from Cotton traders, they fit perfectly.

I'm 5ft and have just bought a couple of pairs of cropped wide legged trousers from Roman Petite and they fit quite nicely. I think that the extra short length that M&S claim to sell would probably work better, however every time I've looked online there are never any in stock in any style and I've never seen the extra short lengths in the shop either.

Lomonald · 15/07/2026 08:45

Oh yes i have some from Roman I bought a couple of years ago.

I buy whatever fits and take them up. Learn to sew. Life changing for short of otherwise 'irregular' sized people!

This!! It’s such a useful skill for the short of stature! Failing that a good alteration service

SirChenjins · 15/07/2026 09:35

M&S, Next, Hobbs, Fat Face petite...loads of places - or I take them up myself.

I buy slouchy wide legged trousers and wear them with a fitted top - and they look brilliant. I'm a pear shape and they hang from my hips - they're far more flattering than skinnies on me.

Swissmeringue · 15/07/2026 21:43

Buy cropped. They fit me perfectly as full length.

YourTruthorMine · 15/07/2026 22:11

I disagree that they are unflattering on shorties, it totally depends on your body shape, I have wide shoulders, big bust, a short torso and longer legs, they are definitely the best style for my shape. Skinnies/boot cut make me look top heavy

Another vote for next - the pixie girl petite trousers are great, I’ve got a couple of them. I’m 5ft and they fit well and not too wide!

FredaMountfitchet · 15/07/2026 22:27

Marks & Spencer
White Stuff
Hobbs
Reiss
And yes Tu at Sainsbury’s occasionally has a gem
Next often very limited styles in petite length & sells out quickly .

Wide leg linen trousers are pretty much all i’ve seen, which i hate. I’m 4’11” and they just swamp me.
So, for you, there’s riches to be had in loads of shops.

I struggled at 5’ 2” and ended up buying hemming tape which has worked really well to take them up. Easy to use.
