What are your teen boys wearing this summer (no shorts 🩳, no logos)

I need clothes updates ideas for 15 yrs DS. Or rather he needs ideas and doesn’t know where to start. He is 6 feet tall, with long dark hair, and will not wear shorts. Apart from P.E. He likes black cargo pants, joggers and plain coloured bright tees, short or long sleeves, and black hoodies. He hates wearing obviously branded anything, collared shirts, polos. He has recently grown out of almost everything.

He especially wants ideas for trainers. Prefers black. Wants to look cool but not try hard. What style of black pants will work for him in summer?

Thanks for any help!

My 15 year old liked H&M - they have loads of options, not too expensive, and easy to filter on the website to see what style they like.

Not sure if these are the exact ones mine has but he has a couple of pairs of loose cargo pants from there he wears all the time over the summer (as well as shorts) - they’re cool and lightweight. These ones come in black https://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.1356107001.html

Thank you! They look great!
If he likes them, he sounds like he has similar taste to my DS, could I ask where he gets his trainers and what brands he likes? Thanks

My teen is liking his Peter storm walking trousers he got for Duke of Edinburgh. Trainers we just go to the bike outlet and buy what fits! He prefers a high top style trainer. Basically he still wears what I buy him from
next re joggers and T-shirts and hasn’t really expressed much of a preference other than the walking trousers

I know you said no shorts but what about jorts? They are quite long and sold everywhere - seem to be the teenage uniform around here. Goes fine with a plain round next tee.

Haha I wasn’t going to comment on trainers, as my son is highly limited by which brands sell H++ width for his massive square feet (courtesy of his mother, oops). He’s got one pair of new balance (who go up to huge widths bless them), one of Skechers and one of fitville. He stays out of the brand trainers conversation and just tries to pick the ones he likes from the minuscule selection that might work!

T shirts he has plain ones from next, M&S and H&M.

Good luck!

I would have a look at Uniqlo. They have a wide range of non branded plain clothes in different colours and the clothes are long lasting.

15 year old DS is very tall but very slim. We have discovered boohoo man for skinny fit joggers which fit him just right.

DS wont wear shorts or jeans - just joggers really and hiking trousers for explorers/dofe. We have just been on holiday and i managed to get him tonwear shorts one day but he changed into joggers after an hour! It was bloody booling.

Some suggestions: for long trousers to wear in the summer heat, he could try linen:

Other suggestions: cargo trousers x 2 in a more polished cotton finish (like chinos, but with the big exterior pockets such as cargoes have) as alternatives to the black cargo trousers he has (I expect the ones he has are in denim and thus a heavier weight).

You can get these chino/cargoes in dark olive green or dark brown or navy to suit his colouring and then he will hopefully choose to wear them casually plus they will work for smarter occasions.

Finally, tracksuit bottoms for comfort of course and for when the weather cools down. My son does not like Uniqlo tracksuit bottoms, as these have have a slippery feel; he prefers more traditional downmarket retailers for plain, comfortable pairs which are better value:

Primary jorts, my fashionista ds 15 and ds 16 shop there... uniqlo also excellent!!!

ChaliceinWonderland · 11/07/2026 22:46

Primark even

I'd also recommend H&M. DS is nearly 15, doesn't like labels, doesn't like jeans. He likes chino or combat style trousers and plain or patterned but not logo Ts that I mostly get off Vinted (usually originally from Next, M&S or George at Asda). Sometimes get things from Decathlon as well.

PS my Kmart link for chinos above is for children’s - here is the proper link to men’s chinos:

Thank you so much for all the really helpful suggestions.

I think uniqlo would be a really good shop for him. Lots of basics in various colours no bog logos.

My 15 year old son has a monthly allowance and is responsible for buying his own clothes - he likes Pull and Bear - they have a lot of plain stuff. He occasionally buys from gym shark for joggers, but it's mainly the pullandbear website.

I think his current trainers are black Adidas though - those he has to try on - he's not really brand oriented but has extremely clear ideas of what he wants his clothing and shoes to look like.

Oh yes, my 17 year old was buying from pull and bear. He likes it.
