Please recommend an epilator

I've never had one before or even used one. Don't really want to pay over £100 and would prefer to pay less. But I don't want a useless one. There is such s huge choice. These Braun epil ones look ok but even then the prices vary wildly. Any thoughts. Thanks

I have been epilating for over a decade, started off just on my lower legs and now do under arms / bikini line too. A basic Braun is fine, I’ve had a generic one from Amazon too (under £20) without issue.

I’d say your skincare is more important than the type of epilator. Regular exfoliation and post epilation I mix a little bit of aloe Vera gel with a drop of tea tree oil to sooth the skin. Same as waxing really.

Thanks very much. I've got a bit careless with things. So dont exfoliate. I will get some of the gel and drops. I had tea tree oil once but that was years ago!

Tea tree oil lasts forever though I think I’ve had the same bottle for about four years. I don’t think I used to need to exfoliate but after years of epilating the hair on my legs is super fine. I don’t get ingrown hairs but some hair struggles to break through so is sort of stuck under a layer of skin unless I exfoliate.

You can use any sugar and oil at 4:1 ratio to make a scrub. Add essential oils if you like to make it fancy but it’s unnecessary.

I will warn you the first time you epilate will be painful because you are taking all the hair off in one. To maintain just run over your legs once a week and it’ll be fine. The first time though take painkillers or a big glass of red (pick your poison) and do it in increments create the first strip then move like a centimetre along.

Don’t let it put you off though as it gets much easier. I think it’s like the convenience of shaving with the smoothness of waxing.
