Washing off sunscreen

I hate SPF, but I know I need it to protect my skin 😬

How do you wash sunscreen off at the end of the day? Facial formulas are usually light, but body sunscreens tend to be really water‑resistant, and normal body wash doesn’t seem to cut it. Doing a full‑body double cleanse is surely too much of a hassle?!

What do you all do? 🙏

@TheQueenOfEverything
Any oil‑based wash cleanser to recommend that’s cheap enough for body wash? ☺️

You all seem to be managing with soap 😎 Maybe I’m just not using the right one, because despite using it with a wash mitt, I still get SPF residue 😅

@managingexpectations
Balms seem to be a great option for the face, but any tips for the body? 🙏

At £65.00 for 100ml, it would be steep for body use 🥺

@gillefc82
Quite a bit cheaper! But I have very long legs. I would go through a pot a week 😇

Yes, if you read my post, I specifically said Eve Lom and muslin cloth for face, bar soap for body.

I've never had a problem with this, but I just did a search asking if oil removes sunscreen and it seems that it does. Maybe try a body oil followed by soap or body wash in the shower?

Isanyonereallyanonymous · 02/07/2026 07:48

Have you tried different brands of suncream?
I've been looking at some of the marine life friendly ones lately, I'm not sure how they feel in comparison to traditional sunscreen, maybe worth a try?

I've never ever had a problem with this. Just back from abroad and never noticed it. Maybe it depends on the sunscreen you use? I use P20 and it washes off with regular bodywash, I had the original source coconut and shea butter.

Doesn’t it famously wash off (and need reapplying?) if you get in the sea/pool? I can’t say I’ve ever found it difficult to remove, just use normal cleanser on my face and whatever shower gel I’m currently using with a puff thing.

RedRiverShore6 · 02/07/2026 08:05

I mostly wear long or 3/4 sleeve tops, long trousers and a big hat to avoid too much sunscreen and use a face wash to get off most of it and a normal shower wash in the shower. DH plasters himself in sunscreen and just uses normal shower wash.

I use Bioderma Atoderm shower oil. It’s very gentle, non-drying, works for eye make up as well and a hot cloth to finish and remove all traces of turning mascara too. I go through a flannel a day but it’s an easy cleanse and one product works for face and body.

Thank you all. Lots of great ideas! ☺️
