Updo ideas for short, fine bobbed hair.

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a tried and tested updo method for short (bobbed), thin and fine hair. My hair looks thickish when it’s done but honestly, if I ever tie it back when in the house (never do if I’m going out), it’s the thickness of an old ratty makeup brush!!

My friend uses those velcro donut sponge things to give hers volume but I haven’t even got enough hair to cover one of those. 🤣

Sometimes I’d just like to put it up when it’s hot like it has been. I’ve tried YouTube but they all either have longer hair or just far more of it.

Picture of me for reference.

Thank you.😊

There are videos of people putting their shorter hair up but I’m so bad at hair I can’t follow them. Mine is slightly shorter than yours at the moment and I can only just get it in a ponytail. I’ve been pinning up the sides with french pins or putting it in to two very low bunches close together at the back then you make a sort or nest between the bobble and your head and and then lift the end of the bunch and pushing it in. You would only have to do it once if you can get your hair in. Ponytail but I can’t.

That woman has loads of hair but that’s the concept.

You’d need to colour match your hair but what about a hair scrunchie so it looks like a messy bun?

I'm the same I just wear mine half up half down but wavy use some texture powder and don't do it perfect looks better when it's more messy casual or a banana clip they are amazing !!! (Hairdresser here )

Mine is a similar length and thickness, I do the Gibson tuck linked to up thread, which is great.
When I cannot be bothered I divide it as if I am going to make bunchies but keep twisting upwards and clip it with a crocodile clip. It's simple and gets the hair off my neck, I will try and get a picture.

I do the twist up then crocodile clip as well. I really like it, it disguises how thin my hair is pretty well. Mine is a couple of inches longer than OP though.

I don’t have enough hair for the half up-half down, I’m just left with some ratty floaty bits.

Thanks so much everyone. I really appreciate the suggestions. I’ll give them a go

Longer clip i use this. It seems to keep more hair in place and is secure.

How do you use this please? Is it like an original 80’s style banana clip or more like a claw clip?

Its a claw clip but longer so good for finer shorter hair. Just pull hair up at the back and secure with the clip.

No advice but your skin is beautiful, OP; you’re really lovely.

That's such an easy up do. My hair is longer but I think the concept will work with shorter hair.

Once it's up comb the back of your head down to the point it's tucked in. It makes it look very smooth and neat

Use styling spray like salt spray, it gives huge amounts of grip and substance to thin hair.

..like the Got2B stuff, or Bumble&Bumble.
