Hi! May I please ask for help? I need a shoe recommendation please for a christening.
I am a god parent, I've just bought the below dress from Vinted and now I need shoes.

I don't own any heels as I have Metatarsalgia (basically makes it feel like I have a sharp pebble under my second toe as the metatarsal joint is highly inflamed), but I would like something nice to wear on my feet, I'm just not sure what.

I love in trainers or shoes I can put insoles in. I have one pair of tan handles that are a bit squishy at the toe pad so I can get away with them with my feet. I have my wedding shoes which are white/silver sparkly irregular choice very low heel with a wide toe so they might be okay, but I'd appreciate any advice please.

Reference: I'm a very pasty 44 year old who is a size 14 with big boobs and red hair.

Can you wear any brands as long as you can add an insole, OP? Or do you prefer "comfort" brands like FitFlops, Ecco, Hotter etc?

What's your budget & do you want something you can wear regularly afterwards? Do you like metallics?

I assume most brands would be fine- I used to live in stiletto high heels from anywhere and then when this developed I threw all my heels away except my wedding shoes and these days I live in sketchers (due to the memory foam insoles) and Clarks boots that I can stick a custom insoles into.

I like a metallic, budget isn't huge, but would spend more for a shoe I could wear time and again.

I'm not sure if a tan kitten heel would work, if so I could spend more on that as I feel like I could wear that again. Whereas if I got something in blue I don't feel I'd get much life out of the shoe!

Would kitten heels not be difficult for you? They're not great for the feet & ankles as they put your whole weight on a tiny point. So they affect your stride (because of how they don't fit with your natural arch, put pressure on the ankle to balance & correct wobbling, & on the toes to grip especially if they're backless?

All that's fine for occasional wear, but if you've already got severe, painful foot problems?

If you can wear something low & open-toed without an insole if they're cushioned enough (& wide? Actually wide fitting or not?), then what about a low mule? Still in fashion but much more stable a design re load & pressure?

Have a look at Sole Bliss - they have some nice, colourful flat options for dressy occasions - tend to be the best of a bad lot for choices where comfort needs to take priority.

Can you only wear flats or would a wedge be ok? And you need a wide fit? Is that correct? How large/thick is the orthotic you wear?

If it's best to have a closed shoe with an insole, I think silver pumps would be good with such a strong blue? Something like these? More of a pointed toe is "in" right now - but comfort & not making your condition worse will no doubt be your main priority!!

If you can wear something low without an insole, if your toes have enough space - what about these?

There are quite a few versions of high-sided mules around, where you could add a half insole, if that would help?

(Just linked these as an example of the style in silver - only left in a 3 though maybe still in some stores in other sizes.)

Thank you all for the replies......I am very un stylish and actually thought a kitten heel was just the name of a very low heel! So evidently a kitten heel is not what I need having looked

The orthotic is actually very slim, it's about 3mm thick at the part that cushions my foot and then about 1mm thick at all other bits of the shoe.

I will take a look at the shoes that have been linked and suggested so far thank you, and I'll take a look at Sole Bliss.

Thank you!
