Where are we buying nice holiday clothes?

I'm early 40's, short in height and a size 16.

Off on holiday in a few weeks and need to pick up some new bits - at least one pair of shorts, beach cover up, couple of dresses or nicer tops for night etc. I don't want to be spending hundreds of pounds - say £20 max for a new top, £40 max for a dress

We only have Next and M&S in my local town, and the selection is rubbish. M&S i always seem to struggle with sizing too. We have supermarkets but again not a great selection.

I've bought several bits from Vinted but find that out of every three or four things I buy, only one is suitable, so just end up putting it back up for sale!

Has anyone seen any nice holiday clothes? Where from? Any suggestions welcome!

How about crew clothing. They often have sales on their website, they have some nice shorts and summery dresses.

Uniqlo and Peacocks, peacocks have been great this summer, I have bought loads form there.

My summer wardrobe for the past few years has almost exclusively been Tu, H&M and TK Maxx, along with Vinted and charity shops for vintage/ one off.

H&M have just started a sale, so there's tons to pick through at the minute. And I've not left TK Maxx without buying at least one thing so far since the spring- they've got some great stuff. My shorts this year after weight loss are all Tu linen blend with an elasticated waist for about £10 a go, and the ones from H&M are brilliant too- search pull on shorts.

I'm similar colouring & shape to you I think. Have you checked out Tesco? They have some lovely pieces, quality is good & really affordable. Currently they have 25% off running so get in there quick. I'd say 90% of my wardrobe is f&f!

Tu has some lovely things at the moment as does Uniqlo and even H&M . M&S even with their new fashion drive just looks frumpy on me and fits weirdly. I just do click and collect to my local Sainsbury try things on an d take bits back easily. I am living in a pair of black linen shorts which sadly they no longer seem to have in stock

If you buy from ebay make sure to ask for measurements, I just brought a next shirt new with tags with a medium size tag, when it came it measured 52 inches, obviously she left out it was very oversized

The Matalan near us has closed down, but there is one near work so I should pop in. There swimwear has always been a decent quality, and not all string bikinis too!

I'll pop down and see what they have in. Frustratingly, ours doesn't have a changing room now so you can't try on. I've always found the trousers / shorts to be really small sizing, but tops can be fine.

I don't think any of them have changing rooms anymore, which is extremely frustrating! I tend to buy two sizes, try on at home & return what I don't want. It's always been fine, but then I go to Tesco regularly so not an issue for me.

As others have said, Next have much more choice online including other brands. Also agree with apps that Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Asda all have some nice stuff in at the moment!

For small children Tesco’s range is great.

Can I ask a question. Is the beauty stuff in tkmaxx generally ok ? Ive bought loads of clothes and homeware stuff from there that ive been v. happy with.....but I always think the beauty stuff and hair stuff looks a bit ranfom and bashed about and for that reason i sometimes wonder if it's ok or not ?????

I have picked up some great bargains but would only buy brands I know and trust. As you say, it's all a bit random.
