Skin + Me vs Dermatica

I’d like to address some issues with my skin (pigmentation, dullness, very slight lines) and I’ve seen both Skin + Me and Dermatica mentioned a lot. Is one better than the other (and if so, why), or are they much of a muchness? Is there anything they don’t provide that I would need to buy myself? (I’m assuming SPF, but apart from that)

Thank you!

I have been using Dermatica for about 18 months now and would recommend them, have no experience of Skin + Me to compare them though.
I receive a prescription cream, azelaic acid and vitamin c serum from them each month and use my own moisturiser, HA serum and spf. They probably would supply these too if you wanted to purchase from them. My skin is looking better than it has done for years.
I have found their customer service to be excellent, they check in regularly and ask for updates on your skin and respond really quickly to any questions you may have.
Good luck!

I’ve been using Dermatica at 0.05 strength for the last 3 months or so. Some things Ive found out along the way:

Start slowly. I initially started with applying every other day but quickly found this was too much for my skin as it got red, irritated and flaky. I had a break to repair my skin barrier then tried again every 5 nights, then every 4, and now every 3.

I highly recommend using the ‘sandwich method’ of using a moisturiser before and after application.

Lots of people experience dryness or flakiness on Tret. Plenty of hydrating products elsewhere in your routine will help with this. I use a milky toner, then a serum, then a moisturiser every morning and on the evenings I’m not using Tret. I also like using a barrier repair product in the evenings (LRP cicaplast is my favourite).

SPF is essential. I find I need to double cleanse to remove the SPF though (with an oil cleaner followe by a cream cleaner) or the SPF makes me break out!

I found a really useful Tretenoin / Retinol users FB group that has been great for learning, tips and tricks and product recommendations.

Tret is a long game and it can take months to see the impact, but I’ve already notice a difference. How much of that is down to the Tret and how much is the general improvement in my skincare routine and water intake is hard to tell though!

Good luck ☺️

Thank you both, I’ve just signed up to Dermatica! @TheDamnFoolThatShotHim I’m in it for the long game anyway (have been changing my diet, taking various vitamins, trying to lose weight etc) so this is just the next step. Also, would you mind sharing the name of the FB group?

Can either of you recommend a decent facial SPF? I’m currently using a La Roche Posay one but I’ve heard it’s better to use a mineral sunscreen?

Thank you! 💐

I’ve been with Dermatica for six years and my skin is great. They listen to your feedback and amend things accordingly,
I don’t bother with any of their regular products, only the prescription (including tret at 0.05).
I am using the LRP UVAir 50SPF which has some great skincare ingredients in, I believe it’s mineral.
