Graduation outfit help!

Please help me find an outfit for my son’s graduation! 5ft4, 10-12, look nice in greens/blues. Ideally want a long dress with a v neck as I think I look like a sack of potatoes in anything that’s high necked, and I don’t like my legs hence long skirt, but top/trousers would be good too. Budget upto £200ish. Absolutely nothing sleeveless as my arms are awful and I don’t really like tight clothing.

Are you very immobile and unable to exercise at all, @namechange864? Seems a shame to be anticipating decades of hating all your limbs.

Co-ords from maybe:

Significant medication and menopause related weight gain over a pretty short space of time has left me feeling very insecure, I realise that 10-12 isn’t big but I was a size 4-6 and I just don’t look like myself anymore at all, I feel massively bloated and flabby. There’s no need to be mean.

That was why I asked if you’re not able to bring about any change. (I’m very aware of how rapidly medication can affect weight.)

But I suspect you look much better than you imagine. And Plumo clothes in particular are interesting enough to draw attention away from arms and legs.

I’d not come across plumo before but some of the stuff is lovely but maybe not as smart as I was thinking, good for everyday though - do you know whether the sizing comes up small/big?

Boden? Lots of dresses there. I like a cotton shirt dress or a floral one. Long is more problematic I feel. The long midi is better. Or try M&S. They have some classy trousers and just wear a silk type top. Otherwise you are into long gowns abs they are not really day wear for a graduation. Most people wear a standard day dress to graduations and just get one with a longer skirt.

Long midi is more elegant. If you want complete coverage I advocate the summer boot. Smart suede or leather boots in nude camel or tan can be worn with right midi dress.

i hear you on the v neck and dislike high necks too. Have a look at Hobbs mint velvet phase eight Me and em etc to see if there are even any button up necks eg shirt dresses that can be unbuttoned a bit. French Connection may also be worth a look.

Next online has numerous brands and deliver to your local store for you to try on. Good luck.

It can take a long time to get used to your body after change like this. Please don’t discount garments on the hanger. Try everything you vaguely like on. You’ll eventually ‘get your eye in’ again to what suits you.
