Improving crepey arms

I know there's not really much you can do to get rid of them apart from surgery but has anyone found something that improves their appearance?

Going on holiday soon and don't want to be hot just to hide them.

Weights help though there’s nothing to get rid of them permanently it’s a natural form of aging unfortunately

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 10/06/2026 07:07

You've probably left it a bit late to start weight training and trying to fill the skin with muscles.

Fake tan doesn't get rid of the wrinkly skin but it does look a bit better IMO.

whiteboard · 10/06/2026 07:13

Fake tan and lots of moisturiser. Have just been on holiday with a high proportion of 50+ people at the resort. Lots of saggy skin. No-one cares. I know it’s easy to say and easy to fixate on something that becomes bigger than it needs to be, but unless the rest of you looks like an 18 year old, a bit of crepeyness is just par for the course.

allthegoldicouldeat · 10/06/2026 07:35

Any body firming body lotion will improve the appearance of crepey skin, especially if it’s not usually a regular habit.
Apply 1-2 times a day.
Palmer’s firming lotion is good, or Clarins if you want higher end.

Firesidechatter · 10/06/2026 07:39

Well you’re not going to fix it if your holiday is soon, just apply some fake tan. Fixing your arms takes time and effort.

so for me, when I lost weight, my arms were really crepey which became apparent if I leaned forward.

i do strength training, eat 1.5mg of protein per kg of body weight, do planks each morning, and am religious about moisturising, I apply bio oil to my arms twice a day,

the result is they look toned, with muscle definition and the crepey ness has gone. I’d say it’s taken a year. But results became apparent after 6 months,

you need to build triceps as well as biceps, but there is no quick fix where you rub some product on and voila you go on holiday and your arms are smooth and crepeyness gone.

Anewusernametoday · 10/06/2026 07:48

Sculptra. Again not a quick fix but it will improve the collagen in your skin.

SpiralSister · 10/06/2026 10:08

There is a thread on here about hiding them, which is a bit depressing tbh, but I do get it.

Agree with strength training and moisturising. Especially strength training. No quick fixes, unfortunately.

So I would moisturise - it’s nice, tells you that you matter, is self care, and will be good for your skin. Lift weights - definitely effective, and a must do if you are aging.

And then make your peace with it.

It’s never too late.

I'm mid sixties. I started doing reformer Pilates about a year ago. 150+ sessions later my biceps and triceps are clearly visible and strong but the saggy skin drooping off my new muscles depressed me. 2 weeks of regularly applying Brazilian Bum Bum has made a big difference. My daughter tells me that Palmers do a similar firming cream for a lot less money.

I also had loose skin on my stomach caused by weight loss/surgery a few years ago. I knew my abs were getting really strong and my stomach was flatter but the loose skin meant it didn't look much better. The Bum Bum cream is helping there too.

SheilaFentiman · 10/06/2026 11:28

Prai Ageless Arms seemed to help a bit, but honestly I expect any body lotion regularly applied would help.

It’s clearly too late to build muscle to fill saggy skin for an imminent holiday, lol.

Aixellency · 10/06/2026 13:17

@Namechangefordaughterevasion would you say it’s the regular massage and application of that cream, or any cream / oil that makes the difference?

allthegoldicouldeat · 10/06/2026 13:57

Another vote for the SDJ Bum Bum cream.

SliceofTosst · 10/06/2026 16:09

Thanks everyone. I was fine a year ago but my hormones have totally dried up and my body along with it. I have decentish muscles, just aging skin. Will just get some firming cream.

Will still go sleeveles!

Yes, don’t limit what you wear!

Obviously this is just anecdotal but to me it seems better than just moisturising lotions and it also seems less claggy. ( I hate sticky creams and lotions).

Neurodiversitydoctor · 10/06/2026 21:16

Mt hack is applying my HRT oestrogen gel to my upper arms- has a local effect.

beigeybeige · 11/06/2026 06:55

Is the local effect on arms down to lack of oestirogen then? Didn’t realise that was another of the things we can add to the list. Hmm Menopause, truly the gift that keeps giving ..

In case it wasn't blatantly obvious, I was referring to the fact that the weight training isn't going to resolve the crepeyness in time for the OP's holiday which she said was 'soon'.

Moisturiser, drink water, swim, yoga. By 2027 you’ll be sorted!

What a brilliant post. I'm just starting to get dry crepey skin on my arms and this has inspired me to get into a routine.

allthegoldicouldeat · 11/06/2026 18:30

I first noticed the crepey skin on my upper arms during a yoga class in a pose where my face was right next to the area: it was a shock, as I was sure it wasn’t like that the day before.
(Probably been like it for years).
