Is "getting your colours done" still something people do?

I've wondered about trying professional colour analysis to improve my appearance.

Many years ago, my friend had it done and I was very dismissive. I then went myself (House of Colour) and it was a game changer for me. I have followed the colour advice for a Bright Winter ever since. It was years ago now, but I am very glad I had it done.

I had mine done by style me happy and so bloody worth it. I would look up the fb group and join; you'll see lots of us that have been in your shoes and the transformations are wild. Emily, the founder, is super engaging too and for an all female group, everyone is so lovely and supportive

I had CMB almost 30 years ago, shortly before I got married and as I was really setting out in career ladder. I still use it today a lot - and when I got brave enough to move away from a lot of black (which is a staple for me anyway), I had lots of vibrant colours to choose from. The style piece was less successful (I keep changing shape, which doesn’t help), but it certainly pointed to things that suit my height better.

You can look at the video's on YouTube and it's quite easy to figure out. It's a good move though! You will use the knowledge a lot.

Some people find working colour and style out for themselves easier than others. My mother and sister both just knew what suited them and scoffed at my paying someone for this kind of information.

Finding a consultant with whom you feel comfortable is much more important than which system you use. Mine was house of colour but there are lots of people equally good.

For me, for whom it doesn’t come naturally, it was honestly the best investment I have ever made. Helped my confidence way more than my MBA and made my life so much easier while often attracting compliments on my stylishness.

I had my colours 'done' by House of Colour in Perth two years ago after I'd lost three stone. It was absolutely brilliant - I'm a true summer and probably knew that but at a point where none of my wardrobe save my socks fitted me it gave me pointers as to what to buy. I used to wear black all the time and this gave me the confidence to try more interesting colours. It also gave me back my interest in clothes and style - when I was bigger I wore things that I felt invisible in. For me, it moved me from a place where I put clothes on to a place where I get dressed.

I've now lost a further four stone and my wardrobe is entirely devoid of black and other colours that don't suit me. I've pretty much worked out what I like in terms of clothes and I'm trying to develop more of a coherent style so on Thursday I'm going back to see my lovely HoC consultant for a style analysis.

Also Chat GPT thinks I'm a soft autumn which is completely wrong so I wouldn't base much on the bot's opinion.
