Does anyone use retinal + hydraulic acid?

I’ve used hydraulic acid in the morning and at night for a while now but as 45 now i also wanted some help with aging and found that retinal is easier on the skin as retinol and is recommended as a first layer in the skincare.
I have put it on tonight and let it soak in for a couple of minutes before applying my usual hydraulic acid.
It felt a bit burning and still is.
Is this normal?

I'd apply the hyaluronic acid first as a buffer and then apply the retinol/al. Retinol is quite strong so it's often suggested to start using it once or twice a week and build up gradually until your skin gets used to it.

Thank you. I will try that. I bought retinal so is it still suggested to only use it 1-2 weekly?.

I believe retinal is stronger than retinol so yes - start slow! Smile

I use retinal. It can dry out your skin

Actual burning that continues isn't something to push through. Try applying retinaldehyde to completely dry skin & waiting 5 mins. before anything else goes on. Also worth starting every other night or 3x/week rather than nightly until your skin adapts. If the burning persists the concentration may be too high for your skin right now so it's worth stepping down, or visit your GP/derm.

I use a hyaluronic acid toner before retinol/tret. I did think it was recommended that way round.
