What to wear to April wedding in Italy?

Does anyone know the general vibe is for guests at Italian weddings please?

I know I could ask the bride and groom but they're the sort of people who will say "wear what you like! We're just happy to have you etc etc" but as it's an intimate wedding, I'd like to "fit in" with the majority Italian family/guests and not miss the mark.

Key wedding details:

• It's in northern Italy in April (near the Lakes)
• it is not a religious ceremony/no church
• Private restaurant-type venue for the evening with a five-course dinner (can't bloody wait)

My stats:

• 5'8" size 12, small-breasted with larger thighs
• I will be breastfeeding so need to be able to at least lower a shoulder down to pop a tit out, but separates also work very well
• I will either wear flats or a very low heel
• I suit soft warm colours and don't generally wear any bold pattern

Budget: £100-200

Be careful with heels in places like Lake Orta there are lots of cobbled streets

Yes, that's what I said earlier. Especially with a shoe that's a) kitten-heeled (low stability) & b) toe-post (bugger all hold on the foot).

Maybe fine for the wedding itself though, depending on location. And the OP really liked the first pair that someone else posted, so I suggested variations that might be a bit more supportive.

Just nabbed this one in the M&S sale and will keep an eye on the Boden skirt one going into sale (fingers crossed)

April in the Italian lakes is like April here, this doesn’t look warm enough.

@ThatLoudSquid - I know you said you're sorted, but I just spotted these flats. You'd liked the toe-post sandals with a kitten heel in taupe/beige that a PP had suggested. If you want taupe, something like these would, I think, be a much better alternative. Especially cute with the Boden waistcoat/skirt set.

These ones mightn't be exactly what you're after, but I'd definitely recommend something with more stability than the toe-post ones. Someone just posted on another thread that she'd bought them - & was regretting it hugely as she couldn't walk in them!

Whatever footwear you do take, make sure you get non-slip soles put on before you go! Worn cobbles are smooth & slippery ...

I'm in the north of Italy, many women here wear trouser suits for weddings, i've never seen UK style flowery dresses and fascinators. it will be April, no Italian will be in summer clothes even if it's hot ( It was 37°c yesterday but it's still May and not June, so no toes out, even now!) April can be cold and wet, but can also be mild and sunny too, but I wouldn't dress as it if it were mid summer.

I've been to quite a few weddings here, mainly family, not super rich, but normal people. Lots of men in jeans and a shirt, women just in what we would consider job interview clothes or smart office wear. I guarantee every woman will have a scarf though! As far as I know only super rich elegant weddings require long evening dresses

I find my kitten heel things great to walk in - obviously not a hike, but car to bar, standing around, a little dance, totally fine, so long as they fit across your foot which is why I prefer faux suede to real suede, they don’t stretch and go all loose. I do add ribbons to the sides and tie up my ankle to add more support to the ones that no longer fit properly

I aspire to be a heels girl, but I know that in reality, I'm a flats girl through and through 😂

It's from the spring collection so it's a thick suit material. The wedding and reception are indoors so I think it will be about right 👍

If it’s not a church wedding you won’t be bound by the “no bare shoulders or mini skirts” rule.
A “Comune” (town hall) wedding means you’ll probably walk through the streets to get there and back to your car so I’d advise low heels, a matching pastel dress with easy access and bolero plus a stole for the evening.
But go crazy with the baby! Smocked Liberty prints and frilly knickers for a girl. Rompers or short dungarees for a boy (think prince George) and soft shoes, no bare feet. They’ll be the star of the show!
