Do you use AI for style advice?

My friend told me recently that she uploads photos of outfits & chatgpt gives an analysis.

I tried it & it was surprisingly good.

Does anyone here use it regularly for this?

My friend is having a glow up and uses ChatGPT a lot for fashion advice, and she finds it really helpful. She says you need to word your questions carefully so that it’s not just going to agree with you though.

That's funny ! Can I ask you what it came up with second time round ? Did you buy any of it ?

I gave it Cabbages and Roses and Casey Casey as examples of recent purchases.

It suggested this. The brands in black were new to me.

Album di Famiglia
Apuntob
Elsa Esturgie
Ichi Antiquités
Black Crane.

No never, I do like a few of the style people on Insta and FB but always give things my own twist

What AI are you all using?
I have just used the free chat gbt and many of the suggested labels look like its grabbed the 'sponsered links' tabs at the top of pages?
I'd love to check hair styles and hair colours......

I use it a lot to help me find clothes on Vinted eg it will suggest brands similar to ones I buy.
it also has my wardrobe uploaded so it can suggest combinations. It can assess new buys against style criteria I’ve set.

Not so much modern style advice. However I sell antiques and vintage online. I recently opened on a new platform that has a much younger audience than Im accustomed to. Copilot gave me useful advice on how to photograph, describe and style particular items in ways I would not have thought of.

It was also brilliant at taking a photo of mine and showing the object in question on a human. That saved me a lot of hassle in taking extra photos. Sometimes a buyer will ask do you have a photo of this on a person? I am not going to organize and entire photo shoot for one item so now I just get AI to generate one.

Interesting …

The one I hadn’t heard of is Elsa Esturgie - lovely materials but not clothes I would seek out to wear.

Presumably the AI directed you to Mouki Mou for Arts & Science? (Where the exact bag I like the look of is invariably sold out.) In my head they occupy the same space as Paul Harnden - hopelessly set aside until I can fulfil my fantasy shopping trip to Japan. (No sightseeing, no blossom, just shops. And maybe eating.)

I’m reluctant to try the same experiment with my AI. It’s already seen my clothes and is sometimes adamant about what I shouldn’t buy. Hmm Not sure I want to give it more leeway for suggestions.

I find AI images of clothes "on humans" off-putting. I've seen a few on eBay, and I'm sure some retailers are using. It's too uncanny valley for me. But I'm just one data point 😁
