Does anyone else enjoy shaving their face for smoother skin?

I've been shaving my face for a couple of years now. I absolutely love the feeling of my skin when it's just been shaved. It's so soft and silky. I don't apply tretinoin or any other active that may sting, after shaving, but will apply other stuff instead.

Anyone else here who loves shaving their faces?

Made the mistake of doing this in my early 20s. It’s not horrible and thick and have to keep up the maintenance.

Not shaving, no, but I do use an epilator sometimes for all these stupid chin hairs.

I do OP! With a good old disposable razor. I genuinely cannot see how it is any different to buying one of the fancy dermaplaning tools!

I have peach fuzz and shaving it a couple of times a month for the last few years has not changed it or made it worse but I do love the extra smooth feeling when doing my skin care afterwards.

I agree. My facial peach fuzzy has not gotten thicker or darker at all.

I never understand the theory that shaving makes it grow back thicker. It's hair that has grown out of skin so can be cut and that isn't different to cutting hair. I'm in my 70s had my hair cut hundreds of times and it hasn't got thicker in fact it's got thinner. Shaved. my underarms many times and the hair is thinner than it was 60 years ago. I'd love to understand.

@TheignT I think to begin with the hair has a fine pointy tip but when shaved it cuts the hair further down the shaft so when it grows back through it feels thicker and more coarse. It never gets that fine pointy tip back unless you leave all the hair to grow back and go through the normal cycle of falling out and regrowing. Most people don't do that.

I shave the peach fuzz from my face because it got very noticeable when I hit perimenopause.

There are alternatives to shaving such as creams and waxing, plus depending on hair colour and skin tone, IPL.

Had to face shave years no choice thick dark hairs chin and tash and waiting till long enough to wax grrr looks terrible

Gettingbysomehow · 22/05/2026 21:13

I dare not. I have a lot of peach fuzz which might return as a beard!!! If it starts looking excessive Ill get it waxed.

henlake7 · 22/05/2026 21:24

I don't enjoy it....but I would enjoy having a thick dark lumberjack beard even less so I shave every day.

NameChangeAgain48 · 22/05/2026 21:27

If I didn't I would grow a beard most men would be proud of. Bloody hormones.

Back in my tumblr days, I read an article about how to appear more masculine. One of the recommendations was to shave your face because peach fuzz makes you look softer and more feminine. Apparently it’s stuck with me because I never have! Though I have had my beard and moustache lasered off.
