Help! My DB is getting married on the beach in Mexico this summer. Desperately seeking a dress as a guest. Am 55 yrs old, size 10 but a bit of a menopausal tummy. 5’5”. Blond hair. DSIL and her friends are dressy ladies so feeling I need to up my game! Don’t want to look dumpy. And also nothing sweaty!!!

I do like the The Fold dress in orange, though it’s a shame it’s not maxi length. (The midi can’t avoid veering into office, or city wedding.)

The Fold usually offer 10% off for signing up and they have a service that you can have a number of items delivered and only pay for any you keep. I have bought a number of things from them and their quality is very good.

A small shop near me had this in the shop window…I’ve bought it as I love the colour. It’s viscose which is a tree pulp thing so similar to cotton. What do you think?

I never like that type of neckline, @MrsElijahMikaelson1 - it looks unfinished and throwaway, as if the manufacturers just could not be bothered. Having looked hard at the dress as a whole - I can’t escape my initial impression of dowdiness. It’s trying to look glamorous but somehow fails on every score.

(But obviously if it makes you feel fabulous in your mirror that’s all that counts!)

It’s on the beach so potentially nothing or flip flops 😂

I think the floaty one looks better for a beach wedding. And I find viscose ok in heat, totally different from polyester. It could be dressed up with some layered gold necklaces including one very long one ?? I kind of get what the pp means - I would associate that shape of dress with a larger / older lady than you are. But if it hangs nicely and is not tent like then ignore me.

Yards and yards of silk. Plus full polyester lining (which is a bit of a pity).

I wouldn’t choose it for myself - not my style - but that is what a pure silk dress using lots of fabric can cost.

(In truth I was wearing a linen dress this weekend that cost much the same. Only I got it at the sale price. It’s just as exquisite on the inside as on the outside.)

I have one similar to the Navy one, knee length. It's extremely comfortable & I found a cardigan with a frill that matches the neckline (although I'm sure you won't need any kind of cover-up with yours!)

Viscose is a nice material but, each to their own, I don't like that at all.

It is a lovely dress but imo not right for a beach wedding, in style and colour. The same website had a yellow lace dress- would look great on a beach....does that appeal?
