Has anyone tried on this Hush dress?

I've been looking for a navy summer dress and am drawn to this Hush one:

I'm 5"2 and size 10/12 apple shape and am a bit worried it would swamp me. Has anyone tried it on?

The Cos dress is a different fabric composition - contains polyester, so usually that brings the price down. It also doesn't have the waist pin tucks which add to the cost.

I think the Cos dress is 100% cotton and also has pintucks?

BeaRightThere - you are quite right. When I clicked on the link it brought up a different dress which was a cotton/poly blend without the pin tucks!!

I never understand this ‘swamping’ notion. Either it fits you at the waist, and in length, or it doesn’t. If the hem needs shortening you do that. The way to tell if a dress works for you is to try it on and see how you feel!

(That said, I’ve never tried anything from Hush, so 🤷‍♀️)

It’s not as simple as just taking up the hem. If you’re short then many standard dresses will have incorrect proportions - waist hitting too low, neckline too low, shoulders too wide, sleeves too long. That’s why I try to shop from petite ranges or brands that I know tend to be designed for more average sized women, rather than 6 foot models. I find French brands tend to be quite good for this - Gerard Darel, Sezanne etc. I also think it’s fair to say that shorter women can find ‘oversized’ style dresses a bit harder to pull off (I don’t want to look like a child who’s raided their mum’s wardrobe)

Yup. These huge sculptural art piece frocks that we see on the runways are on models who are usually at least 5'10" and very slim. If you are shorter or curvier, they probably won't work so well on you.

If you have not bought from Hush before, be warned that the clothes are monstrously over-sized. I am not “that” small (usually UK 6 and 168cm), but their size 4/XXS clothes are absolutely swamping. I would take that into consideration

I find the sizes really vary by style. I tried on two hush dresses in John Lewis the other day. One fitted me in a small and the other fitted me in a 16.

I'm short. When I was slim, some clothing did swamp me. It might technically fit but if there was too much fabric, the wrong cut or fuss it really would swallow me up.

I'm guessing the the OP means that there is a lot of fabric around the sleeves and the rouching at the waist might make everything a bit volumous.

I've no idea if that is the case with this dress though because I've never seen it.
