15kg of luggage - capsule wardrobe help!!

I’m travelling to the south of France and Italy in the summer. I’ve only got a 15kg luggage allowance on the way out, so need some help with how I can build a capsule wardrobe for the trip.

I like nice summery dresses, or shorts and t-shirts. For the evenings I have two sets of shoes & bags - one pair of gold slider style sandals and a gold bag, one pair of red heels and a red bag (pics attached).

I plan on doing a lot of exploring so day to day I imagine I’ll be wearing trainers a lot - I have a burgundy and cream pair of Adidas Spezials and will probably purchase a new pair of new balance 720s in preparation for the trip. Likely in white or brown.

I will have the ability to do laundry halfway through the trip.

Where do I even start?!

@StillSpartacus I try to pack items in quick-drying technical fabrics. Uniqlo airism is good for this.

They can be hand-washed if I don’t have access to laundry and then hung up to dry. I wouldn’t wear a t shirt twice without washing. I also usually have a couple of dresses in the rotation so I can get to day 6 without laundry.

I never go an any trip without a bar of laundry soap and this mini washboard. https://www.muji.com/sg/products/cmdty/detail/4550512841081

I always like a different outfit each day, I would take 7 tops for a week, notwithstanding that I like to wear something different out in the evening

@redboxerclub out of interest, why can't you bear the thought of hand washing your knickers? I've got some very lovely delicate knickers that I wouldn't stick in the machine.

On holiday I'm very happy to handwash knickers and bathing costumes, if you had to take enough knickers and bathing costumes to cover a week there wouldn't be much room for anything else

I have no idea! It’s the though they won’t be properly clean and rinsed well and that they will dry funny and crispy. I have no evidence to back this up and it is quite absurd!

@likelysuspect absolutely nothing wrong with having a different outfit for each day if you have enough luggage allowance and are mostly staying in one place. On our last two week holiday we stayed in 6 different hotels and having to lug all your stuff between hotels on public transport makes packing light way more attractive. Luggage charges also mean that more people in general are trying to travel with capsule wardrobes and items that can be worn more than once in different outfits.

@redboxerclub The little washboard that I linked in my other post is a game changer for this. I feel like it helps me to get things properly clean with handwashing. Then I rinse them really well and use the towel roll method before hanging things to dry. You take a dry towel and then lay your wet items in it and roll it up into a sausage, sit or stand on it to really squash it tight and it will get a lot of the moisture out of the clothes before hang drying.
