Unsure on Invisalign results

I recently got Invisalign and am now paying off the 5k debt! I am really happy with my teeth. I hated them before I and I do feel more confident.

However, they were done pretty quickly as my dentist told me to start changing them every week and I had no refinements at the end. although I am happy as they are so much better then before, I just don’t know if they were completely finished or could have done with some more time.

ive had wires put on top and bottom so I can’t go back to my trays. I am in the process of whitening which will make them look better and I am considering composite but I can’t justify more money on them right now.

they do feel inline, maybe a couple teeth are millimetres out, but they just look a bit messy still? Or am I being anal!? It’s just a lot of money when they aren’t perfect.

thanks for reading!

I have attached my teeth when I first got the Invisalign so you can see massive improvement.

i have also attached the predicted results. Which doesn’t look slanted :(

I’ve paid £400 for the top and bottom fixed wires now so I feel like there is no going back. I wonder if composite would help but of course more money!

They look bloody brilliant now!! You've come a long long way from the start. Don't stress about it, I had that feeling too with mine but you will get used to ot

Ah yes I have also got the retainer for night time which I am trying to be religious about wearing. I keep thinking they are moving already actually which is worrying! But might be imagining

Hi, I've just finished my Invisalign treatment (I had invisalign lite which was 14 trays but I wasn't happy at the end so ended up with another 9 trays as adjustments for free) and I def agree with comments about looking for perfection as they're your teeth and over analysing and they look great.

However, I have 2 other comments - one did you get the teeth smoothing down offered as part of this? Where they basically file your teeth ever so slightly across to smoothen them with a metal drill type thing with a plate on it - like the bottom of your top teeth and the top of your bottom? I think your top teeth would benefit from this a tiny bit to even the lengths out and that would make a massive difference (instead of composite bonding). This was included for free with my package.

Also, you know you're meant to wear the retainers full time for 6 months after the treatment and THEN go to night wear only? Or at least that's what I was told - that your teeth will want to move back. I mean, I'm not planning on doing this religiously but def plan to wear them a lot in the daytime also wherever it's easy to do so.

That’s an amazing result in just 7 months. Mine took 4 years with fixed wire braces! Like you when the wires came off I was a little underwhelmed but after whitening and composit bonding I was really pleased. They’re still not perfect but I’m not sure that is ever achievable and compared to where I started the change is amazing.

User765342 · 14/05/2026 15:15

You need composite bonding or veneers to get them perfect. It's a big myth that Invisalign can give you stunning results. It will make your teeth and bite straighter but it's essentially just the starting point for further cosmetic dentistry treatment. Of course, anyone starting out with very crooked teeth will be very pleased with the results in comparison, but there will always be small noticeable flaws.

The results you got from Invisalign look great. But you won't end up with an immaculate "hollywood smile" from braces alone. Doing veneers or CB over teeth that have been orthodontically corrected means you'll only need minimal prep on them as well.

XiCi · 14/05/2026 15:21

Holy shit, I can't believe the difference, you must be so happy. You've inspired me to go ahead and get mine done. Ive had an initial appointment and was told I'd have straight teeth in 6 months then would need some composite bonding. Ive been putting it off due to price but have a bonus coming soon so think will take the plunge.

Ifyounevergiveup · 14/05/2026 15:25

Please don’t do anything else. They look magnificent and, most importantly, REAL. The fad for turkey teeth will end and these look utterly natural. Good job by your dentist. Also, yes, you DO need to continue to wear the guards all the time for (from memory) three months after treatment ends (nobody told me beforehand, either) then religiously at night. I had mine done two years ago and if I miss two nights on the bounce, the retainers are really tight because in that time my teeth have shifted.

Enjoy your beautiful mouth! 👄

what a lovely message, thank you!

I may have had a little help with the lips so I won’t take credit haha
agree you do get carried away with always seeing dead perfect straight teeth but I guess they aren’t actually real teeth!!

Oh really? What did you do for your lips?
I have trout pout.

ThatWhiteElephant · 14/05/2026 15:37

I’d be really happy with your teeth. They look natural, not like the turkey teeth that seem really popular at the moment.
Yours look great and I can’t believe the difference after 7 months!

Iaeve · 14/05/2026 17:06

I think they look fantastic! Was it £400 for top & bottom teeth? Where did you go? This seems v cheap!

awfulapril · 14/05/2026 18:32

have you got the metal behind your teeth ?

Oldgalgames · 14/05/2026 20:42

I have had invisalign they are not perfect but 100% better than they were, my dentist recommended composite bonding but i couldnt afford it and wasnt convinced it would make much difference anyway, however on my last appointment the dentist did it for free, she couldnt help herself as a perfectionist! I was shocked at how much of a difference it did make. I was exceptionally lucky!

Honestly go for it! I feel so much more confident. It took me ages to realise i could smile following treatment showing my teeth!

PlainSkyr · 14/05/2026 20:56

I have had Invisalign (15 years ago now!) and I turned down the smoothing thing mentioned by a previous poster. I felt the teeth would look ‘too perfect’ and I left them just looking straightened and tight.

your’s look ‘just right’ so enjoy them as they are. Pleased for your results!

£400 was only the wires not the whole treatment

it was about 5k including some whitening , the retainer and the wires at the end!

Slight slant. They are gorgeous teeth but you’ve paid an awful lot and you want them to be as symmetrical as possible. Tell dentist you want them to be fully straight not slanted, it shouldn’t take long although I assume the wires would need to be re done. You shouldn’t have to pay for corrections.

I read the total was 5k in your OP, I think that poster thought it was £400 all in.
I did smilelign last year, it took about 8 months with refinements in that time for me and free whitening it cost £2200. I didn’t have any wires though

awfulapril · 15/05/2026 15:13

Mine is £4.2. South England

FavouritePhotos · 17/05/2026 06:40

They look fab…..But, knowing that one of my kids had Invisalign and that her orthodontist was a real perfectionist, I would push for them to do a bit more. If your teeth were naturally like this, I wouldn’t mess with them at all, but you’ve paid your £5k so I’d at least ask. It may not be possible but you won’t know unless you ask.

My child’s took about 5 months extra, just slight tweaks but now they really are ‘perfect.

OrangeJellySnakes · 17/05/2026 06:47

Omg you should be an advert for Invisalign. Your teeth look absolutely amazing. I genuinely didn’t think they could transform teeth like that and it’s made me wonder if I should have mine done!

thornbury · 17/05/2026 10:25

It's a great outcome. I bought a comprehensive package which initially was 32 trays changed fortnightly, then a review, then some elastic band work to pull molars down that took 6 weeks, then another 12 trays changed every 10 days. Total was a few weeks short of 2 years!! If I had felt more was needed, it could have been done before my retainers were fitted.
