Last minute holiday prep tips to feel better in a bikini

We have booked a holiday today for 12 days time. Completely out of the blue as we were planning to move but the right house hasn't come up and so we thought we would treat ourselves to some sun instead.

I am absolutely not bikini body ready! I am carrying 3kg of extra weight (mostly round my middle) and am pale and dry skinned.

I will immediately hit the water and intermittent fasting as that works for me, cut out the sugary snacks (which there are multiple) start daily moisturising (very rarely do this but do exfoliate often) and buy myself a tanning moisturiser as I am incapable of applying fake tan and book a pedicure.

Can anybody else think of any other emergency measures so I don't feel like a frump in my bikini in 12 days? I am also due my period the day before we fly so any recommendations to delay that (never done it before) welcome.

I know it is a very nice problem to have but I want to feel nice on holiday if I can.

Zero carb works for me, tummy hang seems to melt away. Planks and various ab workout daily too

I'm actually on a sunny holiday at the moment and you can see every body type, shape, size and age - all in bikinis / swimwear. Very very few people look like they have been frantically fake-tanning / exfoliating/ juicing etc before coming here. Cellulite, wobbly bits, wrinkly skin - all of it totally normal and healthy. I promise you that absolutely no one will give a shit, and I hope that you don't either

Full disclosure - I had a leg and bikini wax and did my own pedicure before I came on hols, that's it

Enjoy your holiday!

Fake tan and finding a bikini that suits your body shape and fits you properly.

Also remember that nobody else cares about your cellulite. I don’t mean to be flippant but it’s true.

I genuinely know nobody cares or is looking but I want to FEEL nice. I lost a lot of weight 18 months ago and wore a bikini for the first time as an adult last year and looked good if I do say so myself. My extra half a stone I would have been rid of with more than 12 days notice and with my period being due too, I want to feel as minimally bloated and wobbly as I can.

Low carb sounds a good idea so will try that.

I'll be in a similar position to you in a few months, off on my jollys but will have a very small baby and no doubt not feeling my best (beach body wise!)

My no.1 plan is treating myself to some new flattering clothes, dressing for my new shape and stuff that's comfortable so I can relax. I'm thinking flowy linen dresses, silk scarves to use as shawls. No bikini for me but I've seen some lovely swimming costumes with matching sarongs/cover ups. Finding beachwear that actually suits your height, shape and skintone makes a huge difference too. I described myself to chatgpt and it gave me a list of what looks best on me, what looks OK, and what to avoid and oh my goodness it was 100% spot on when I went shopping

no.2 I'll be getting a manicure, pedicure, hair appointment etc. Buying and packing my fave smelling lotions and creams to take away. Going to have a few DIY spa evenings whilst away. When you go for a pedicure, you may have the option to bring your own polish or buy the same one they used for any touch ups

no.3 is worrying about weight/diet. Starving yourself for a short amount of time does make the scale go down, but you're mostly losing water, muscle and then a teeny tiny bit of fat. As soon as you're on holiday and start to eat normally, you'll feel huge from the bloat. I've made this mistake enough times. I'd say take it easy the next couple of weeks, aim for a small healthy loss, and then when you're on holiday continue being sensible and not overeating, you want to feel good the whole time you're away, not just the first couple of mornings

I hope you have the best holiday! I'm sure your dream house will come up soon

You sound exactly like me, except my holiday is in four days 😄

I feel more confident wearing a one-piece swimsuit personally, plus less skin to sun cream. you can get medication to delay your period, I think from the GP. Going swimming and sauna always make me feel good.

Google Period Delay tablets-Boots and Superdrug do them for £30 upwards depending on how long you need to delay for. They take a couple of days to process as you have to go through a clinican but you can either get home delivery or collect in store. Have a fab holiday!
