Me+Em or COS style for shortarses?

Have been going a bit mad lately trying to work out my style after a few years of living rurally and losing my way a bit. I really love the style of Me+Em and COS - simple, one point of interest, no fuss or flounces type thing, but although I can find the odd piece that works for me, I’m just too short at 5’2” for most of their clothes. Suspect I’m looking for the holy grail here but can anyone please suggest any brands that have a similar vibe but that work for petites?

I’m not the person best placed offer fashion advice but as a fellow 5ft 2 woman I have found Uniqlo to be my friend for a lot of things. M&S short length for trousers too.
I’ve also bought some tops from Cos and &other stories on Vinted to experiment a bit which have worked ok re upper body length for me. good luck!

Me&Em go down to size 4 - is that still too big?

Wyse usually comes up shorter than Me&Em (the dresses sometimes come up long but trousers etc are usually shorter)

Are you finding things too long in the body, or at the hem? The first is obviously more of an issue, but at less than an inch taller than you, I rarely find clothes that can’t be worn with at most a shortening of the hem.

It’s not so much the overall length, as things can easily be shortened- it’s more the overall proportions of the clothes. So bust darts, waist, hips are too low or in the wrong place, shoulders sit above my actual shoulder if the waist is in the right place, tops are cut too low at the front, that kind of thing. I do think I’ve got a pretty short torse which doesn’t help, but it’s not as easy as just having clothes taken up!

It’s not so much that they are too big, just cut for someone much taller than I am so the proportions are all wrong on me!

Ah thank you! I’ll have a bit of a scroll tonight. Definitely a gap in the market I think for properly fitting petite stuff - but also that works for smaller women in terms of patterns, shape , style etc. Just making a voluminous massive patterned dress smaller doesn’t mean it will suit a petite person! Have had some good stuff from Abercrombie in the past and J.Crew on trips to the US. Reformation looks promising too.

I’m the other end of the height problem spectrum at 6ft, and I can’t wear Me+Em either as I find it’s all cut for someone much shorter than me! Oooh to be 5ft 7…

I get what you mean about Cos though. A lot of my wardrobe is from there as I think the (often) oversized cuts and minimal/clean lines work well on my lanky frame. My 5ft 1in friend looks amazing in some of their stuff too, but says that she has to be a lot more careful as a lot of it swamps her. She swears by Uniqlo for a similar vibe but with less volume.

I’ll have another look at Uniqlo. I do like their thermal baselayers but haven’t tried the rest of the range- I find their shops a bit claustrophobic and their website not very user-friendly! Might be worth a proper look though
