Where can I find womenswear in sizes smaller than a 6

ChubbyGroundhog · 13/05/2026 05:14

Can someone point me in the direction of shops that sell sizes below 6?

I have only ever seen 4P in Next and that range is very limited because it tends to be only available in the business section i.e. blazers and formal trousers.

Hollister? I know it’s more teen centric but there’s a lot of more plain stuff without logos all over it. The jeans in particular are great. They do xxs ( and petite if you’re on the short side)

PoppinjayPolly · 13/05/2026 06:16

Lots of places these days, it’s quite a popular size!
New Look, River Island, H&M,
my go to before body changed by kids!

Oh I’m the same except 5”0 . I’ve found hollister ‘short’ jeans/ trousers great and online especially I’ve found more petite stuff

Thank you! I've been to all of these and 6 is the smallest.

I've tried going to the kids section for jeans at these places.

The waist for 11-12 is fine but the legs are too short (even for me) and 13-14 is fine if I can find it...I have been with other women in this section so we are competing! Also, I don't like all of the kids styles since they're for kids, obviously!

Same at M&S.

Following along because I also want to know!! I tried hollister but it was dreadful quality, the 00 jeans fit but lost their shape immediately.

FigAboutTheRules · 13/05/2026 06:31

Zara has a good teen range that doesn't feel too young in style - I'm 50 and buy the odd thing there. 13-14 fits well, though I'm not as small as you.

3luckystars · 13/05/2026 06:35

Where do you normally get your clothes? Is it office gear or casual clothes you need?

Or have you lost a lot of weight recently?

I think the shops for younger ages/teenager and Zara kids will have plenty smaller sizes. Also Vinted.
Good luck.

If 11-12 fits you then my DD12 (who is on the petite side) often buys adult size xxs from Primark if that helps at all?

Thanks. No, haven't lost weight recently. Only losing what I gained last year, if that makes sense. But, I'm aiming to lose some more and have already found that the smallest sizes in these shops are too big.

Been to every shop on the high street.

Not keen on Vinted, too many issues there and can't return but thanks for the suggestion! I appreciate all assistance!

Just noticed that ASOS goes down to 2/4 in petite range if that helps?

Mango has a new shop - mango teen - it’s for tall skinny teenagers, the fashions are nice. Also you could try Asian brands like Uniqlo.

hellospring26 · 13/05/2026 06:45

Brandy Melville? You’d have to sift through the very teen stuff

manovertheroad · 13/05/2026 06:47

Brandy Melville stuff is quite small - they only have London stores in the uk (there is online) but their tops and skirts are probably a 4-6. The jumpers / baggy stuff would be too big though (more of an 8) a lot of it is quite plain, I buy a lot there

Spiffingdarling88 · 13/05/2026 06:48

Next, h&m, hollister, asos, mango, boohoo, plt, tk maxx, primark, John Lewis,

supercalifragilistic123 · 13/05/2026 06:51

I wondered where people who are actually slim builded are buying clothes because I've noticed I'm needing an 8 more and more and I'm really not that slim, just normal sized. It must be so frustrating to buy clothes.

Foodylicious · 13/05/2026 06:51

Have you tried Mango xs?

likelysuspect · 13/05/2026 06:52

Do you go abroad often OP, Spanish and Italian women are much smaller than in the UK and their clothes are cut much nicer, you would do well to do a weeks shopping trip in a big city, take an empty suitcase. All my best clothes are from those countries, particularly Spain

Yes! It is extremely frustrating! There is no way I would be size 6 even 10 years ago but now I'm at the smallest size most shops carry and they are too big.

I picked up a size 14 for someone I was shopping with the other day, to check for length (they needed a long but their size 10 was only in stock in regular) and it looked like a size 20.

I have been all of these sizes, so I know.

Managed to find 25w in Levi's but I can't buy everything there!

I’m with you, OP. It’s a joke. I was always an 8 or 10 in Next, now I’m a 4 or 6. I’ve been the same size for 30+ years! You can get the odd 4 in Next, but colours are limited, eg they do a jacket in black, but in every other size it comes in multiple colours. I’d try Mango/Zara/Hollister/Hobbs.

bedfrog · 13/05/2026 07:03

@ChubbyGroundhog I actually don't need petite in trousers as I'm average height with proportionately longer legs.

@likelysuspect might need to go to Spain!!

I would really like to be able to buy from some more ethical brands as I also don't buy synthetic fibres. So basically I am dreading when I need to buy new clothes 😅

Might try Next if they go down to a 4 though good shout those who suggested it.

I actually don't weigh quite as much as I should but chronic illness plays a part in that. Even when I am heavier I am still small framed so struggle especially with tops.

Thank you! Planning to go in September so I will keep this in mind!!!

Any shops I should go to, in particular?

Edited

A lot of clothes in Spain are specifically Spanish brands, the little boutiques as well as standard big stores. Their trousers are cut differently and shirts/blouses are better, with more shape and shorter arms

AlexandraJJ · 13/05/2026 07:09

Not cheap but Reiss and Michael Kors clothing does that size. Guess too and Holland Cooper size up small. Even if you bought key pieces and mixed them with clothes you could get away with bigger sizes. I’m considering learning to tailor my clothes for this reason. Or if there’s a seamstress in your area and take a few garments over time?

likelysuspect · 13/05/2026 07:11

I just saw your edit, I spend my time wandering around the non touristy bits in the shopping districts so there are plenty of the cheapy shops with rails and rails of stuff but there are also boutiques which only stock one or two things. You have your standard big brands, of course they have the likes of Primark too, El Cortes Ingles is the big department store although not for cheapy stuff

And when I say cheapy stuff, I find it very good quality anyway so dont be put off those types of stores and think its rubbish, its not.

All the big names, Zara and Mango for example are Spanish and they're very proud of that, also dont forget charity shops. Best one I went to was in Seville, great shop.
