Shampoo/conditioner/treatment recommendations

My hair has gone completely to hell.

Dry, frizzy, broken. Up until 8 months ago I bleached it, but stopped because of the breakage and switched to colour instead (done in a salon each time). However the new regrowth, about 4-5”, is just as bad. I’ve come to the conclusion it wasn’t entirely due to the bleach, but my hair is so grey now that the underlying texture just seems to have changed. I haven’t found anything yet shampoo/conditioner/treatment wise that’s made any difference.

Any recommendations for something that might help grey menopausal hair that’s still being coloured (but not bleached)? I just hate it

Superdrug have a really lovely shampoo and conditioner....its got pink clay and mallow in. It's stopped my hair loss. £4 a bottle but bogoff deal last time I brought it

My Holy Grail is Aveda Shampure , I buy a 1 litre bottle , it lasts nearly a year .
Pre hairdye I use Philip Kingsley Itchy Flaky Scalp or BodyShop ginger to clarify and remove any build up .

Conditioner depends - if my hair is dry , Morrocon Oil as a pre-treat , if it feels fragile then Olaplex but it takes longer to do the steps (spray , bonding lotion, )

Protein treatments like olaplex just seem to make it even drier so I think it’s definitely serious moisture that it needs. Or possibly it’s just the way it is now and not much can be done (sob 😢)

Redken acidic bonding shampoo/conditioner/leave in treatment. I had the treatment at the hairdressers and made my hair feel so much smoother, so I've bought the whole package and it's been brilliant on my dyed (usually grey/frizzy/menopausal) hair. I'm not sure about the "serious moisture" that you need, but the leave in treatment might be worth a try.

The best shampoo and conditioner I've found and now use exclusively is the Wella fusion range. And I've tried loads! The bond repairing ones had actually made my hair drier and more damaged but this one transforms it

I have tried lots of shampoos and treatments as my hair was so dry! I really rate Coco and Eve. I use their Bond Therapy shampoo and conditioner. It’s a bit pricey but it lasts a long time (mine has lasted five months and I double shampoo, and wash two to three times a week). It’s really transformed my hair into being soft and manageable with a lot less breakage and shedding.

Also, try a hair oil. I really like Hair Syrup’s Honey Dew. I use this once a day to keep it moisturised and soft. Costs around £16 but I bought it in September and still have around a 1/4 of a bottle left.

I tried lots of things of various prices when my hair went dry & frizzy with middle age, & I've settled on Oway products - they've made my hair soft & silky again

Olaplex makes my hair worse too a d mine is dry from colouring it and highlighting.
I have tried loads and the most moisturising one that doesn’t leave my hair looking greasy or heavy is Pureology Nanoworks, the gold bottles. It is colour safe too so doesn’t strip colour. It leaves my hair so soft and frizz free and I’ve not found a better shampoo/conditioner amd I’ve tried almost all the salon brands.

The only thing that works for me is this: kerastase night serum
once or twice a week i apply liberally (5-6 pumps) on my (dry) hair. I dont necessarily use it at night.
it has been a game changer! My hair is soft, supple, looks healthy and is shiny. Even my hairdresser comments on how good it looks.
it is pricey but the bottle last around 6 months.
it has a smell but i dont mind it and my DP loves it but it may not be everyone’s cup of it.
i see it as a moisturiser for hair. I am 50yo with some bleach highlights and lots of grey hair.
