Help me find a new deodorant that doesn’t make me itch!

Please?
Have tried Akt, Pit Rok, that blue Japanese sounding one from supermarkets, Wild, Sanex (had the most luck with that until recently) and a few other more natural ones I can’t think of offhand, all of them make me itch after a while and I develop a nasty rash. I’m not particularly sweaty and would love one that has less nasty stuff in it. Everything from a supermarket makes me react. I loved Akt and used it for ages until randomly one day I reacted to it. I wouldn’t bother with it at all but perimenopause, so au naturel is out.
My underarms thank you in advance.

Have you tried Nuud? That’s my favourite. Took a bit of getting used to coming from traditions deodorant but I love it now.

SingedSoul · 05/05/2026 01:17

Try fussy, smell lovely but not as effective as sane.

wonkymonkey · 05/05/2026 01:19

I used to react to deodorant and it was the aluminium in it. Try Bionsen which is aluminium
free. Worked brilliantly for me for years.

Edited to add I don’t react now to the aluminium, don’t know why. But that’s the reason I stopped using it, not because it wasn’t any good! I had a general allergy to nickel etc which seems to have disappeared.

I use no pong after being recommended on here, they do a few different ones? It’s really good!

Blahblahblahabla · 05/05/2026 01:27

I am using fussy ATM. It is different to wild. Has more good bacteria species.

Frrrout · 05/05/2026 07:04

Thanks everyone. I’ve tried fussy - forgot that one, and it made me itch straight away. Bionsen I’ve used successfully for a while so maybe I’ll try that one again. The no-pong one sounds good as I like a cream one - I loved Akt until I didn’t anymore. Haven’t tried Nuud either so that’s another option. Thanks!

Sadly it doesn’t look like they ship to the UK.

Did you try the Fussy sensitive one? It doesn't have bicarb in, it's the bicarb in deodorants that make me itch.

Wipeywipey · 05/05/2026 07:20

I have been impressed with Chesmist At Play - it completely unblocked a large blocked pore I had (likely caused by antipersperant after shaving) and my underarms feel much smoother since using it. Thr peach one smells like Body Shop Fuzzy Peach too which I like.

XelaM · 05/05/2026 07:24

Pearl roll on from Nivea is so lovely and soft. I discovered it after trying it in an advent calendar and I'm totally converted. All others make me itch.

Blueuggboots · 05/05/2026 07:30

They do post to the UK

I like Dove dry stick deodorant. It's got a built in moisturiser.

Tubbyinthehottub · 05/05/2026 07:52

Smol. Most deodorants irritate me but this one doesn't at all and it's effective.

ghostyslovesheets · 05/05/2026 08:07

The only one that didn’t irritate me - I developed very sensitive pitts with an angry red rash and itching in menopause, is MooGoo lemon myrtle. A friend who had been through chemotherapy recommended it and it’s lovely

Sparkletastic · 05/05/2026 08:34

The original scent solid Dove stick. Every natural deo I ever tried eventually brought me out in pit eczema, and I hate sprays and roll-ons

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 05/05/2026 08:37

Bionsen worked for me too apart from the hottest of days. I’m now a total convert to salt of the earth. The crystal one, not the roll on or spray, just the lump of salt. I find it so hard to find deodorant that doesn’t irritate my skin, really hope this one doesn’t eventually too but it has been years now

user2848502016 · 05/05/2026 09:42

Have you tried the wild sensitive one? Also dove cream stick. My DD gets itchy pits too but these are two she can tolerate.
Have you also tried a salt crystal one? Literally a salt crystal you moisten then rub on your pits?

DuellingBanjos · 05/05/2026 09:54

Will second the recommendation for Fussy. It has something in it ?probiotics? that eats sweat. Other natural distances have left me early sore, but this one is fine - and I’m not using the sensitive version.

Noshadelamp · 05/05/2026 10:02

I react to a few ingredients in the natural ones eg
Salt
Bicarb
Essential oils (not sure which ones, citrus I think mainly)

I had been using a sanex stick for a while which suddenly caused a rash.

One tip is to make sure you wash it off at the end of the day and give your skin time without it.

Now using ineos antiperspirant deo aerosol spray. They have a mist spray as well but I only saw that after I bought the aerosol.

Really impressed with it.

I have this one bookmarked which has great reviews (might be cheaper elsewhere)

I use Mum unscented. I get it from Sainsbury’s. No itch, but honestly I think as it gets hotter I’m going to have to reapply mid afternoon. For years I used Dove roll on, original dark blue top, but it’s harder to find around here and I wanted to switch to an unscented product.

1emma19 · 07/05/2026 21:30

Hi. Look for fragrance-free/baking soda-free/with minimal preservative system. "Magnesium hydroxide" as the active is one of the gentler options for reactive skin as it neutralizes odor-causing bacteria (without the pH disruption that baking soda causes). Remember to patch test a new formula on the inner arm first!

FlashHeartFly · 07/05/2026 21:32

Make Waves have been great for me. I used to use fussy and wild but I hated how sticky and gummy they were. Make waves is much better for me

Griselinia · 07/05/2026 21:39

As a pp said it's potentially the baking soda. Look for one eg from the natural deodorant co that is baking soda free.
