What DIY hair colour would match my hair best?

Lots of greys on a short haircut - my plan was always to embrace the greys, I have rocked the few strands for about 5 years, but right now I am not in a confident mood. I would like to cover them up and will need a box colour due to budget constraints.

My natural colour is lovely, it’s mid brown with gold undertones, both cool and warm strands. Mid browns look about right on the box packaging but looking at videos online, seem to come out darker. Everyone has masses of glossy bouncy hair, some it looks stunning but completely unrelatable. I have looked at light ash brown, but it seems too light… Any advice is welcome.

I use a dark blonde, it covers the greys nicely. Generally you want to pick a colour a couple of shade lighter then your hair so the greys kinda fade into the background!

Your hair looks lovely as it is, the greys look like highlights and I wouldn't have noticed them if you hadn't pointed them out - I had to zoom in

I couldn’t see the greys either!

Use a semi permanent whatever you do. That will blend the greys without drastically altering the rest of your hair.

I’d consider L’Oreal Casting in 613, or 603 if you’re more golden brown in real life than the photo suggests.

Do not go darker than a 6; you could also look at 780 if that’s not too caramel.

I have very dark brown hair where it isn’t white and I use a level 5, which the box will tell you is medium but is dark.

You don’t need them. Watch hairdresser Rami YT on the art of subtle grey coverage.

I think you need some kind of ashy colour unless you're happy with a total change? Becuase your hair looks great currently .

Thank you all. The most of the greys are around the side, where hair is cut shorter, so layers of grey are more.prominent. My worry is that a bad box dye will look more aging than the greys...

Go for an ashy blonde, the lighter bits around your face will become a lighter blonde and they will look like highlights. Yes your hair is in fantastic condition and you could leave it but why not look even better

I use a demi hair dye. It's stronger than semi but fades and doesn't leave a demarcation line. I use Clarol Natural Instincts. It's often on offer at Superdrug. It doesn't smell at its not permanent. The colours are a little darker on grey hair than the colour on the box as is often the case.

Pp are right, a dark blonde is what you need.

It will. If I were you I’d go to a salon and get a sprinkle of micro highlights instead.
