Alternative wedding dress - where does one get one?

My friend is getting married and wants a stylish dress that she can get married in. She doesn't want a typical wedding dress - nothing white/ cream or bridey. What shops should she go to in London? Come on you style gurus - help us out please!

I went through this exactly this time last year - there is a fab personal shopper at Fenwicks- she's called Jenny Siese and you get free Carluccio coffees. Liberty has good personal shoppers too, and I have had friends who have had success at Harvey Nicks. This is a slightly funny time to shop as lots of stuff is sold out, but she might get something in the sales - they gave me sales prices on stuff at Fenwicks even though it was a few days before the official sale started

I got my dress from Browns on south Molton street - it was a lovely lace shirt dress with a silk shift underneath from a Belgian designer (can't remember name but one of those slightly edgy ones - we're talking early 90s here!) it was a few hundred pounds, so with inflation might be over £1000ish now but was well worth it and the staff were lovely and not at all snooty designer shop type assistants
