Evening dress ideas for slim DD needing more bust support

My DD is really struggling to find an evening dress for an event this summer. She’s a slim size 8-10 but has a 32DD chest.

All her friends have fabulous strappy dresses but these don’t look great on DD because she needs to wear a bra. We’ve tried strapless and stick on bras but they don’t give enough support, and she really doesn’t like the look of wide straps.

If anyone has any ideas where to look or brands that might suit her, I’d really appreciate it! Online is best for us because we are over an hour way from a big city. Maybe something with built in support if that’s a thing?

@horlickstablets I thought the same when I was a good size 14 and wearing a size 30 back - surely slimmer people must need a lot smaller back sizes.

I am now 6/8 and still in 30 back, cannot go smaller. The reasons are that first, when bigger, I was squishier. Plus I had bigger heavier boobs that needed more support. So if I wanted the bra band to be tight enough to provide a lot of support, it needed to be actually tighter than my underbust measurement.
Now I have no fat on my ribcage, just skin and bone. Therefore a tight bra is actually painful, there's no padding.

OPs DD should get properly fitted, but yes once you are slimmer, you may need a bigger band than the underbust measurement.

@BeHeartyRedZebraOften dresses that tie at the back of the neck have a low back which means no bra. I’d never wear that. I think we know the young DD here isn’t happy about flapping about so what some women do and are happy with no bra, size F or whatever, isn’t really relevant. There’s plenty of “event” dresses where dd can wear a bra.

Would a strapless basque help lift from below instead? It could mean she could wear a strappy dress if she wanted. She might prefer a style without the suspender part though!

Many dresses have support built in, my DD’s have had them from ever pretty (via amazon) and they have built in support, at least the ones they had did (musicians so needed a few)

I wouldn't claim to have no spare flesh but the bra wire is definitely sitting comfortably against my rib cage.

In fact today I'd wearing one of my old 36E bras from when I was two stone heavier, on the tightest setting and it's quite comfy!

And the band isn't riding up or doing anything weird like the things mentioned on here, it stays put.

I imagine it's like clothes sizing and bras just have to be tried on as they are not particularly consistent. I just tend to buy all TU recycled lace or comfort lace as they used to be called as at least the size is consistent in that brand. And they are indeed comfortable.

Have a look at longline strapless bras, they give a lot more support than a regular strapless bra because they go further down your torso. Like this sort of thing. I am a 30gg and that’s the style I wear and they don’t budge, plus offer the support/shape. Plus definitely worth getting a proper fitting at bravissimo as they’ll make sure she’s definitely in the right size.
