A trainers one...this or that?!

Which of these for general wear? Love the colour and studs on the cons, but I think vans are probably more comfortable because of the wider toe box. Cons are more classic, Vans have studs which are a mix of silver and amber crystals (I thought they were matte silver and gold).
I've found my favourite gazelles are flexing a bit too much now and so can't wear them out walking around all day really, I can get pain in the bones where the balls of my feet are, so I think the soles may be twisting too much?

Which would you choose?

I wouldn’t wear either of these if you’re suffering with the balls of your feet, they’re both quite thin soles. If you like gazelles what about adidas campus?

Whenindoubthugitout · 29/04/2026 18:33

Neither
too sore on foot for decent step count.

VictoriaAshe · 29/04/2026 19:41

They’re both nice classic sneakers, I prefer the Vans/Keds/Camper shape, but that’s just habit.

Is it really essential they should be bedazzled with studs and diamantés, though?

TheWickerFan · 29/04/2026 19:42

I almost exclusively wear Converse and Vans and I don’t like either of these. The dimante doesn’t really work, but if I had to pick, the Vans looks lightly better to me.

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 29/04/2026 19:43

Do yourself a favourdont buy either of those and do get decent orthotic inserts for your shoes

That pain isnt normal

Ohgoose · 29/04/2026 19:45

I don’t like either but if I had to choose it would be the Converse. I don’t think they’d be that comfortable though.

Justkoko · 29/04/2026 23:30

Well after one day of pain in the gazelles, I went back to the trusty old new balance which are just firmer in the sole, so no weird twisting. Pain went basically immediately.
I think not the vans, the spangles are too much. Still like the tiny studs on the cons though, however unsuitable for my feet.
Does anyone else find the way cons kind of curl upwards at the toes a bit annoying? Not like they are supposed to be like that but like they are worn out and curled? Maybe I'm talking myself out of them!

Both awful

Justkoko · Yesterday 17:20

Yep, probably not the best idea. Impulse buys so should return. Had seen the cons at full price and liked them so was happy when they were reduced.

I quite liked the Converse ones. I tend to wear them alot over summer (but you are right, they are narrow af!).
I really like the Rocket Dog versions, they tend to be much wider.

mcmuffin22 · Yesterday 18:10

I wear Vans and cpuld never wear converse as they rub my little toe..and I have quite narrow feet. I prefer unadorned ones though.

VictoriaAshe · Yesterday 18:17

Converse are notoriously uncomfortable for most people. Apparently the (more expensive, naturally) Chuck Taylor 70s are better.

Thank you. Interestingly (and a clue) I am not rushing to wear either out. They're nice, but if I was wanting to wear them every day I'd know they were definitely my thing. Black ones are going back anyway.

Just a thought, if I often wear a khaki coat are khaki trainers a bit too matchy matchy...? I tend to think a bit of contrast is better really.
