Best beginner eyebrow treatments for subtle shape and definition

My eyebrows are not great. Not a great shape, poor definition, and the odd rogue white hair - while the hair on my head still has colour, by and large, with just a few grey strands around the temples.

I don't want anything too dramatic, but between what I have now and those looks you can see on MIC, what exists and what is the best treatment for a newbie? Semi-permanent, with drawn-on bits, or just a kind of shading?

Please tell me how it all works, if you have the patience. Thank you!

Get them threaded or waxed. Preferably threaded if there's someone near you that does it - I think you get a much better finish. Asian beauty salons are great & cheap as chips. Used to cost me £3 to get them threaded and they looked beautiful. Now it costs me £10 for a very mid look tbh.

I dye my own brows, I bought a kit off Amazon. The good thing with doing your own is that you can put it on for a bit, wash it off, see how it looks and then maybe top up

I recently got a HD brow treatment and would advise against that. Each hair is now kinked, and they take so much taming.
I previously had wax and tint and was very pleased.

I've gone from having naturally good eyebrows (barely needed plucking, naturally a nice arch, just used a little bit of brow pencil) to having thinning, slightly patchy greying brows post menopause.

If yours aren't a great shape, go to a good beauticians to get that rectified (look at reviews online). Less (plucking) is more though!! And have her do a light cosmetic filling in for you, so that you can see how she does it. If you don't wear much make-up & want a natural look, stress that.

At home on a day-to-day basis, the best thing to maximise the brow hairs you have now & blend in the grey bits (if it's only a little), is a tinted volumising brow mascara. I use Benefit Gimme Brow in a cool ash brown/taupe colour (I'm strawberry blonde with naturally darker brows). That will immediately make your brows look more "there", but still natural.

I need a bit more than that though, so I also use a brow pencil. It's always been Rimmel Brow Pencil in Hazel, which I keep well-sharpened & apply in fine strokes to shape my brow, then use the little brush to groom it into shape. I've recently started using NYX micro-brow pencil as well/instead, which is ready-sharpened.

Both the brow pencils are cheap, the Benefit brow mascara is dearer. I would try a cheaper one first - NYX also does one.

Thank you everyone!

It sounds like wax/thread plus tint is the way to go, for me.

I live in a quite conservative French town in the Paris region. I don't think I'd find an Asian beauty salon here but certainly if I hop on the train into Paris I can do.

My issue was I didn't even know what to ask for, until I consulted you guys.

Thanks again 🤗
