Does anyone have any recommendations for a body wash for my DC who is struggling with spots? Thank you

Q&A salicylic acid body wash is worth a try, it will do as much as a body wash can I expect, but chest/back acne is often hormonal so body wash probably won’t stop the spots, will just help them heal quicker and prevent scarring. Spoken from experience - I still suffer in my 40s!

Tea tree oil is very good. Or products containing it.

I’ve heard that hibiscrub is good

Topbird29 · 26/04/2026 19:30

I've also got a salycylic spray that I can use on my back after the shower - think it is nip & fab

Cerave blemish control face wash, it’s fine on chest and back as well. That and la Roche Posay serozinc spray. ( currently on offer on Escentual website if you want to try)

Charcoal soap bar

If it's "bacne" (i.e. acne all over their back), I'd advise seeing a GP over going through the entire body wash section of Boots first. From experience, they're likely to suggest hibiscrub first, and a longer-term course of antibiotics next. For me, the antibiotics solved it, and I haven't had a horrendously spotty back since.

My son uses the clearasil pads to clean anywhere he gets spotty. It works really well for him.

Another vote for hibiwash. It’s also worth checking that your DC is making sure they rinse conditioner off their back if they use it on their hair.

I got it some years ago and used a salicylic acid body wash. I think letting conditioner run down my back was the culprit so I haven’t done that since and I’ve been fine

This stuff is amazing. Gets rid of my child’s spots almost overnight (normal teenage spots rather than acne). It leaves his skin really soft, it’s doesn’t leave his skin greasy (it feels like it should) and it doesn’t dry out his skin either. It’s not cheap but it’s really good (it was recommended on here on another thread and I tried it). Just bought my younger child a bottle and again it’s really good on her skin.

It smells great too.

Sorry it’s for faces but I’d use it sparingly and chest and back in the same way as you would wash your face with it.

Please go to a chemist and ask for Dermol from the Pharmasist. You can buy it over the counter. Our Son had really bad acne as a teenager and it was recommended by a dermatologist. It can be given on prescription but is cheaper to buy.
