Little spots and redness around lip line, any suggestions?

I keep getting little spots along my lip line. And above my upper lip is reddish, so the definition between lip and normal skin is lost. Took this photo straight out of the shower.

Any ideas? Not sure what to do. Currently face routine is cleanser, moisturiser, SPF in the morning, cleanser, moisturiser at night. Use dermatica with tret about twice a week. Lip balm occasionally. Rarely wear make up.

It might be perioral dermatitis. I had it last year and it looked like that. See your GP to check. If it is, you'll need to use prescription antibiotic gel and, if that doesn't work, take antibiotics. The gel didnt work for me, so i had to have a three-month course of antibiotics which sorted it out.

Could it be herpes?

Could it be herpes?

Doesn’t look like it. No blisters with liquid in them.

I get something similar. What finally solved it after it got worse and worse was internal steroids for four days and a topical steroid for a week, prescribed by a GP obviously (I looked like a clown at this point). After it resolved I switched to a natural cream for minor bouts. It’s called Sven’s island Manuka balm. You don’t want to be using steroids for long. They weaken the skin.

Could it be your toothpaste?

Are you feeling rundown? It could be viral. I’ve had something similar and it went away on its own.

Could it be herpes?

I don’t think so, little spots but no blisters.

Thanks, have done some googling of this and it looks possible. Will book in to GP.

Could it be your toothpaste?

Wouldn’t have occurred to me (haven’t changed it recently) but looking up perioral dermatitis, toothpaste seems to be a possible culprit!

It looks like perioral dermatitis. You don’t need to see your GP straight away. You can try an antifungal cream (like clotrimazole) twice daily and cut out tretinoin until it’s cleared. If I have an outbreak of PD the antifungal cream usually clears it within a week or sooner.
If you are on Instagram, Addicted to Face has lots of PD information on her highlights. May be worth a look.
Do you use treat around your mouth? It might be best to avoid the mouth area of you do. I’ve been using treat for years and always avoid my mouth area.
