I'd do them - colour looks a bit flat without them and they're usually quite subtle. Do as thin strands as you can manage

zippitippitoes · 20/06/2008 10:47

i usually do them in case it looks too flat but i am tempted to not

If you want a change then leave it one colour. You can always do the highlights after the ball.

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/06/2008 10:49

leave it !

zippitippitoes · 20/06/2008 10:50

i am in such a quandary i am meeting bf friends and workmates for the first time as it is at his work

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/06/2008 10:51

go with your first instinct,so leave highlights off !

TillyScoutsmum · 20/06/2008 10:55

Leave them - dry your hair - and if you don't like it, you can add them later on today/tonight. They're much easier to add properly on dry hair as well - can do really fine strands so its very subtle

zippitippitoes · 20/06/2008 10:57

oh ok i didnt realise you could do them later

i shall dry it without

i am hoping to find someone to cut it later nothing like last minute panic

i am going to london tonight

i should actually be doing my final asignments for college

As long as you haven't opened the packet and mixed the highlight stuff up, you can add it later (if you have, you probably need to make a decision as soon as you've dried it and add them a.s.a.p if you want)

Obviously - I am a natural blonde and have just read the boxes a lot

WingsofaAngel · 20/06/2008 11:05

As Tilly said as long as you haven't mixed it.
You can buy separate highlighting kits so even if you have mixed this one you can buy a kit at a later date.

nailpolish · 20/06/2008 11:07

stripy hair is so cheap looking

zippitippitoes · 20/06/2008 11:13

lol nailly well you have seen my stripey hair

i havent mixed it

OP posts:
nailpolish · 20/06/2008 11:13

hmmi wouldnt hae said your hair was stripy
more subtlye highlighted

zippitippitoes · 20/06/2008 11:17

ah well it is the same stuff i am using now

same colours etc

OP posts:
TillyScoutsmum · 20/06/2008 11:17

I agree stripey hair is bad...

zippitippitoes · 20/06/2008 11:17

maybe i should dry it then go and find a haridreser and probably hate the haircut too then see

not much time for college work however in that plan

OP posts:
TillyScoutsmum · 20/06/2008 11:19

ah - bugger college work - you have a ball to go to

zippitippitoes · 20/06/2008 11:47

well do i get a prize for indecision i have done them but not many and very thin

bf will probably not notice anyway

i said to him last night i havent had it cut and it is looking a mess really tangly

and he said

well you always say that and start raeching for the hairbrush and it always looks fine

OP posts:
Ripeberry · 20/06/2008 11:53

I've got finely stripped hair, does that mean i'm uncool.
But the worst look is black hair with blonde blocks at the ends.
Looks like they have dipped their hair in paint.
Each to their own.

CountessDracula · 20/06/2008 11:56

oh pls no stripes
you are not a badger ffs
(or are you? Are you the world's first typing badger maybe?)

zippitippitoes · 20/06/2008 11:58

ive just done some tiny thin strands lol

getting it cut will be the next challenge

i have to go and find somewhere

OP posts:
Ripeberry · 20/06/2008 12:20

They are not bold stripes (yuk), but finely woven ones done at the hairdressers and i have 3 colours in it, honey blonde, strawberry blonde and light brown.
My normal haircolour is mousey brown and i wanted something to liven it up a bit.
Most SAHM mums round here go for blue and pink in their hair and one even has bright red hair...poor DCs

citylover · 20/06/2008 13:11

I always use the wand although last time used a different kit bit lighter. I get compliments on the stripes highlights unless people are so embarassed they have to say something.

Hope you have a great time at the ball.

zippitippitoes · 20/06/2008 15:43

ooh i went and got a stand by appointment at Toni and Guy so was 29 quid instead of 38 quid

lovely hairdresser who said

"Your colours are lovely..where did you go for those?"

so i said er i did it myself this morning

and she said did you use a wand i said yes

and she said thats what i do lol

so I am very pleased hair looks really nice

and i got two necklaces to choose between as i left it too late to get one of whizzes really nice hand made ones which is what i had planned
