Good quality comfy bendy ballet pumps - Land's End? or where?

Having dismissed them for ages because of my fat, flat feet and chunky ankles, a couple of months ago I bought my first pair of ballet pumps (£6 Peacocks).
Am staggered how much I have worn them but they are now falling apart.

If ballet shoes are going to be a staple part of my wardrobe I reckon it's worth getting a decent pair. Where should I go?

I'm looking at max £30 so not French Sole
as flat as possible - absolutely no heel and no chunky sole either
leather so not sweaty
no bow
brown or bronze

haven't found anything quite right on the high st so am seeking your recommendations for secret online suppliers

any ideas?

I am v.pleased with a pair from Clarks 34.99 in pleasing conkerish brown. Wondered if they were too old lady but when on look fine and go with variety of stuff altho' possibly a bit wholemeal for some. May not suit everyone but fanatastically comfy - they do have a string bow but only like real ballet shoes. They are called Freckle Face.

Clarks have a sale on just now lots of ballet style shoes in there.

next shoes don;t stay on my feet - my toes are too fat / heels too narrow - and the elastic-back ones don't come in brown

Clarks Cocoa Creme (I think about £24 in the sale in Clarks in Abingdon, MrsB) in bronze. I tried some on on Tuesday, and they felt really comfortable.

MrsBadger · 20/06/2008 12:59

did you read brief?

those have a heel and a bow

must try harder...

OP posts:
JackieNo · 20/06/2008 13:01

Oh alright. The heel's negligible, though.

MrsBadger · 20/06/2008 13:03

I know but I have shrunk my best linen trous and they are too short for anything more than real flats

have looked at Rocketdogs but they all seem to be vegetarian hence sweaty (grr)

La Redoute? NOt sure about the cut away bit though - I had some like that once, and I couldn't wear them because they made my feet make farting noises when I walked.
Two-tone banana shoes?
Maybe?
No idea how comfortable any of these are though.

New Look generally have exactly what you are looking for in a gazillion colours (I got red ones), for £15 if I remember rightly. Hang on, will go find link.

MrsBadger · 20/06/2008 15:25

I'd worry that £15 ones would fall apart only marginally more slowly than £6 ones

I am comforted by spending proper money on shoes

I got some nice ones from Dune - £25

janeite · 20/06/2008 18:54

Rocket Dog ones are rubbish anyway; they fall to pieces really quickly. I got some very flat ones from Clarks, no bow - they were horribly uncomfortable for the first couple of wears but are lovely now. And the ones that Jackie posted (if they are the same ones I tried on and din't buy) had nice soft cushioning inside - they were too wide for me though.

JackieNo · 20/06/2008 20:27

Wait for the Boden sale, and hope these are in it? Not bronze, though. Just brown.
