Can I get my hair to grow super long again?

As a teenager and in my early 20s, I had really long hair, almost at my hips. In my mid to late 20s, I started dying it (bleach) and gradually the ends snapped off, leaving it at only shoulder length. I’m now in my 30s and have been gentler with my hair, changing stylists who used really gentle formulations. I’m still fake blonde, but my hair has grown a few inches past my shoulder now.

If there any hairdressers on here or women who’ve been in a similar position, how can I help my hair to grow back super long again? That’s if it ever will… maybe my hair has changed since I was 18/23.

I switched to Kin Kind shampoo and conditioner bars and I take biotin growth from Nutrition Geeks and my hair is thicker and healthier than ever xx

I find limiting styling with hot tools helps with hair becoming weak and damaged. I also like olaplex treatment for frizzy hair.

Hair can actually grow long again after bleach damage. The two things that matter most are 1) minimizing breakage and 2) supporting scalp health. Protein treatments every few weeks help rebuild strength in chemically processed hair (hydrolyzed keratin or wheat protein in a leave-in or mask format). Trimming split ends regularly even just small amounts prevents breakage travelling up the shaft and losing more length than you gain.

Yes you definitely can but it takes time and patience. Limit bleach use (I have a balayage style and toners in between). Minimise heat use. Don’t brush wet hair (and invest in a good brush). Use a satin / silk pillow case when you sleep.

Look after your scalp and your ends. Use a scalp oil a few times a week, massage it daily. Use bond repair (K18 and Epres are my favourites). Oil the lengths. Use a deep cleansing shampoo followed by a hair mask regularly. Eat lots of protein and healthy fats. Make sure your ferritin and vitamin d levels are good.

Thank you. I only have bleach applied to my roots at the hairdresser’s; they don’t colour the ends. I usually have a salon blow dry once a week and it lasts a week. On day 5 and 6, I use a bit of dry shampoo. So there is heat styling but only once a week.

My diet is good (lots of salad and fruit, chicken and fish), but maybe I could use more iron as I don’t like red meat.

Hi, I’ve grown my hair to almost waist length. I use Kerastase products, shampoo and conditioner. The conditioner is a mask but I use it as a normal conditioner. I only wash my hair twice weekly, and I was taking Biotin up until a few weeks ago. I use Keratase over night serum once weekly or if my hair looks dry.
I tend to blow dry it if I’m going out but will let it air dry on every other wash. I don’t use a silk pillow, but I sleep with my hair down and use silk scrunchies. I have high lift tint 2-3 times a year and have a root colour ( blonde) every 4 weeks as I’m so grey now !
