How to stop make-up/foundation rubbing onto neck of clothes?

I wear jumpers most days. Usually, at the end of the day, the neck of my jumper is stained with foundation! Any tricks on how to prevent this?!? Ta!

How far down do you take your foundation? Maybe you could use a setting spray to stop it from running down if that’s what’s happening?

As per pp - don't put on neck. Match your foundation to your skin tone and no need then to bring it down.

For my rare fake tan days, I spray the neck of my clothes with hair spray and it works. I do the same for spf.

This is a good question! I don’t put any foundation on my neck yet it will transfer to the front of collared / neck fastening coats - very annoying as it can be obvious staining when my coat is on back of my chair at work!

You can’t, it’s a coloured paint so it will always transfer. The options are only not to wear it or not to wear it so far down.

I fade any face products from the centre out so by the time I get to my jaw line there isn’t really any makeup there.

Try a setting spray with film-forming polymers (look for acrylates copolymer on the ingredient list).

Hairspray on the collar or the Loreal red setting spray both work wonders x

Mitherations · 20/04/2026 11:46

I think the answer to this is don't rub something on your neck if you don't want it to end up on your collar.

Buffing!!! But a really decent brush and buff your jawline with it and make sure your foundation matches your skin tone properly so you don’t need it on your neck

if you are really concerned just wipe a tissue over your jawline when you’ve finished and any excess will be wiped off

Skindinavia setting spray and translucent powder over the top. I haven’t tried the hairspray trick so can’t speak to that.
