Has HRT had any impact on your skin?

I have just been prescribed it on trial for 3 months to help with sleep, anxiety and brain fog, no hot flushes or sweats. I was reading yesterday about when to expect some effects and side effects, and read that in 3 - 6 months it can have positive effect on skin. My face is ok for 47, but the neck is crepey, with a soft pouch under chin and ring lines. It’s my worst aging part. Would be nice to see some improvement there as a bonus…

I don’t see how anyone can answer this. You’d have to know what your skin would have ended up as to know if HRT made a difference. This is what RCTs are for.

HRT stopped my skin from being so unbearably itchy - but it’s had no miraculous anti-ageing benefits as far as I can tell. I’ve been on it for a couple of years now.

There are studies that show HRT does help. It can help preserve what you have but it won't reverse aging you already have from oestrogen related collagen loss or not much. It will help you going forwards. I've heard from some sources its best to get on it early doors to prevent sagging etc. Also if you have sun damage it won't prevent that showing up.

I've heard topical estrogen can help.

It stopped the breakouts I was getting on my chin so that was good.

It’s definitely improved my skin, I had terrible bumpy KP upper arms, even when young, since I’ve been applying my estrogel there it’s cleared up!

No but diet did

I’m not on hrt at all now, and take tamoxifen so in a permanent state of perimenopause.

Very good skincare regimen on top and vitamins (have had some deficiencies.)

My KP bumpy arms are the best they’ve ever been

My skin got worse initially, dry, itchy, random rashes. I started using all sorts of things to try and help but nothing really did. I would say it took 6-9 months and upping to 3 pumps a day before the skin got better. The increase was for other symptoms not because of my skin. I also stopped using all my products and now just use a gentle cleanser and moisturiser, no serums etc. My skin is definitely more sensitive in perimenopause and accepting that was important.

Not for me- it triggered acne!
But I am only 1 month in.
