Has anyone had this and did it work? My cheeks are doing my head in. The rosacea cream works to an extent but I really want rid of it.

Following as also interested! What causes the flushing for you?

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 08/04/2026 15:22

I looked into this. It doesn't stop it from coming back, presumably because there are lots of little blood vessels and the ones that haven't been treated with laser get affected by whatever the original cause of the redness is. I've also read that people who've had it have had other issues such as enlarged pores and skin dryness.

Jamfirstest · 08/04/2026 15:42

@Melsy88im not sure I’ve always had it as an adult but last couple of years it’s got loads worse. Peri meno I’m sure! I’ve started getting spots on my cheeks now it’s really getting me down

I had it done a few years ago. One side was better than the other but the results are (so far!) permanent. Takes about six weeks between sessions to see full benefit/for the skin to recover. As a bonus he zapped an annoying little wart from my eyelid FOC!

I’m part way through a course of IPL which is blasting the broken veins on my nose and cheeks from rosacea, and it does seem to be calming things down a lot as well

WhiskyandWater · 08/04/2026 16:50

I have IPL for this, it’s expensive and I need to top up every few years (it’s also pretty unpleasant). My therapist says the excel V laser is better than IPL but I had too much downtime from the patch test whereas IPL I have none.

Just to add, my own rosacea has been much better since I improved my skin barrier. It was much better after a week using The Ordinary Aloe and NAG serum.

I now always use a moisturising serum containing hyaluronic acid morning and evening, a gentle cleanser and The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension a few times a week. My skin is in much better condition and the thread veins are a lot less noticeable. This last week I've used a couple of Korean/Korean inspired products and it looks better still. I also think diet can help.

Yodeldodeldo · 08/04/2026 20:20

Yes IPL did help me, along with Azaleic acid gel. I get it topped up once a year.

Its better for the capillary flushing type of rosacea and not the spotty type from my understanding.

I use elf holy hydration skin barrier goals cream to help prevent the burning cheeks.

I have a skin care clinic and skin barrier is the number one thing for rosacea. The spots are a common issue (based on non-clinical assessment) The GP can prescribe a ivermectin cream for papulopustular rosacea - you may need to see a dermatologist for diagnosis. Another thing to mention is that UV exposure makes it worse - you should be wearing sunblock (not sunscreen) and a hat and try to avoid sitting in direct sunlight (face only)

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 11/04/2026 13:11

Start with The Ordinary serum and suspension (cream) and see how you get on. Seriously, after 7 days using the serum my previously flaky, dry skin was so much better. The azelaic acid cream tones down redness and helps if you get tiny pustules too. I've always used a good moisturiser as well as serum and cream for the rosacea. I stopped using a retinol serum which was doing nothing beneficial for me and making the rosacea worse.

I now tend to use L'Oreal Revitalift Laser Tripeptide serum which is lovely and moisturising. I buy it when it's on offer (regularly in supermarkets, Boots, etc), don't spend over £30 on it. I use Cerave foaming oil cleanser (bought from Amazon). The two things I've tried recently are Mamonde Flora Rose Glow Liquid Mask, which is a serum, and Boots No7 Good Intent Dew Bank Water Cream.

@Jamfirstest I've posted above the product details. They're widely available, e.g. from Boots.
