Personal shopper - how much to budget?

For various reasons I'm thinking about getting a personal shopper to redo my wardrobe but dont know how much I need to save.

I havent bought new clothes in years so wouldnt have a clue how much say, 5 outfits with shoes/bags would cost.

It would be high street clothes. What I have bought recently has been from Tescos. My town is crap for shops and I dont want to go to the nearest city to window shop.

So if you were to buy 5 day to day outfits from the high street, what would you expect to spend?

The personal shopper would be the type that went round shops with you rather than say a shopper in John Lewis and I know how much that will cost so it's just the clothes.

I would say £1000

It entirely depends on how much you personally want to spend.

The only way you can realistically decide this, prior to engaging the personal shopper, is to browse several ‘High St price’ shops online, find the sort of things you think you might want to wear and observe your own reactions to prices. And that may depend on a number of factors: basic affordability; your impression of the ethical and environmental aspirations of each brand; your lifestyle - SAHM in a rural area, or taking up a new corporate role in a city, or anticipating following your interests and hobbies in retirement; your aesthetic tastes and just how much you want to prioritise clothes. Some people spend almost nothing on clothing but walk around in £20k of jewellery, for instance. What are clothes worth to you?

My preferred list of High St shop sites would include:

& Other Stories
Arket
Community Clothing
Cos
Mango
Massimo Dutti
Uniqlo
Zara

Other people will suggest other places, of course.

One thing to be aware of is that the price of everything else has gone up - raw materials, fuel, rent, labour, etc, etc - so you must expect the price of clothes to have increased correspondingly. If you find yourself considering places whose prices seem the same as a decade ago you’ll need to be aware the quality of their products will have decreased dramatically. Take a look at this thread:

Wouldn’t they ask you to specify a price range you’re comfortable with? Surely thats the first thing they’d do?

But the OP isn’t ready to do that because, as I understand it, she’s out of touch with current prices. She’s trying to work out how much to save towards the shopping.

For 5 outfits from the high street, I’d say £1000-£2000. It depends on which brands though.
