I'm new to the product and have just discovered The Ordinarys hyaluronic acid... and then found you can get a whole variety of hyaluronic acid products!

What should I be i using as a 50 something?

The ordinary one seemed to irritate my skin so I didn’t bother for a long time. As a real amateur with skincare and all the influencers I got sucked into buying Anua serum but actually I do like it and am feeling I look quite good at the moment., I’m being cautious and not using it often. The instructions said ‘Apply an appropriate amount to the skin’ which suggests it’s not strong enough to do very much.

Yes have for years . I have tried many but Boots own (grey tube) is IMO best for quality and price
BTW I am frequently complimented on my skin so it must be doing something right

I use a basic Superdrug version and find it gives me a good glow. It is cheap and cheerful.

I like the beauty pie triple hyaluronic acid serum.

I've tried others at various price points - ordinary up to Dr Sturm and keep going back to beauty pie. That and the peptide eye cream are why I keep my subscription.

I was on holiday in the UK last week and realised I'd forgotten to pack a face cream so I wanted to pick up something cheap that I could use day or night. I grabbed this in Asda and was surprised to find it absolutely brilliant! It's really lightweight, absorbs quickly but feels hydrating and fresh. DH has now nabbed it as he liked it too so I'm going to pick up some more when I'm next near an Asda.

I've tried a number of different brands, all our too strong for my sensitive skin.
Start gentle and see how you get on, it it's for everyone.

I like the Inkey List one

MrsWhites · 07/04/2026 09:27

I’ve got the Ordinary one, I like the effects but its stickiness is annoying. I’m almost at the end of the bottle and I’ve heard good things about the Vichy one.

SheilaFentiman · 07/04/2026 09:31

I have the Inkey List one at present, I don’t find it sticky

dudsville · 07/04/2026 09:32

I haven't shopped around because the one from TO works well for me. I'm in my 50s with what would be dry skin and acne rosacea, but all of that is wonderfully well controlled with this as a part of my routine.

itsnothingoriginal · 07/04/2026 09:38

Garnier is the one I go back to! It's a bit too fragranced for my liking but not at all sticky.

I spray my face with LRP mineral water first so it's damp before applying. Helps retain water and plumpness.

I like the Elf Triple Bounce one

Another vote for this. I started using it in lockdown when beauty counters were closed and I was running out of my usual Estée Lauder serum which cost about ten times the price. Never went back. I really rate the Inkey List products.

I use Hado Labo - not the one they sell in Superdrug, but the original Japanese version. When I looked into it about 10 years ago, korean/japanese skincare was just taking hold in the UK and this was the 'holy grail' hyaluronic acid. I've tried The Ordinary and others since, but nothing comes close to Hado Labo. It's about £12 for a 170ml bottle from amazon/other online places and it lasts for months.

Same i used another one from superdrug. In a bottle with pipettes but i discovered in key list and their products seem to like my skin. Or vice versa 😂

Another vote for the beauty pie triple hyaluronic acid serum. It goes on very nicely and I feel like it calms and clarifies my skin.

ItsHelenaHandbasket · 07/04/2026 11:06

I love the garnier one, it does have a bit of a funky smell but it's not sticky at all and leaves my skin feeling really soft and smooth
