Would you wear a floral swing dress to work mid week or would that be too fancy?

Would you wear a dress style like this mid week going to work?

There is an awareness day in a few weeks to be celebrated by a particular colour. Let's say blue. You wear blue, or do anything else blue. Blue hair, blue food, blue car, blue anything.

I fell in love with many of these dresses but I think it might be too formal or fancy for mid week and for work.

Will it bother you if people stare at you or comment on your clothes?
If not and you love a dress (and your work doesn't rely on a particular dress code) then crack on!😁

I think if it’s for a specific event there’s a bit more leeway than on a normal work day.

CelestialGazer · 04/04/2026 20:26

I think it would be a great choice for the type of day you suggest. (So long as it is practical for the type of work you do of course.)

it will show you have made an effort and really entered into the spirit of the day.

I us3d to wear hell bunny, disturbia etc for work bu5 I'm not a professional so there was no dress code

Unless you have a particular dress code or it's impractical, there's no issues. I love seeing people dress up/fancy for no particular reason (and you have a reason).

No, it wouldn't bother me.

Thank you for the encouragement.

I usually wear casual cotton dresses mainly. Your reply gives me the encouragement to just do it.

The world is bad lately, I am night as well get some enjoyment and fun from an outfit for a day.

I will be able to wear to a different function later in May too.

At my work no one would bat an eyelid at someone wearing colourful clothes.

GlovedhandsCecilia · 04/04/2026 22:43

It depends on your body, I'd say. I was in a job where a top I wore was said to be too revealing. I mentioned that a colleague has the same top and it hasn't been pulled up. We have very different body types. The top itself has mid sleeves and is V neck, I can't help that I have bigger breasts.

MayaPinion · 05/04/2026 06:05

Yes, I wear what makes me feel good. Wear the dress you love. Life is too short for boring clothes.

FlatErica · 05/04/2026 07:37

Depends where I worked. if it’s for a dress-up day, such as you suggest it’s probably okay.

PurBal · 05/04/2026 07:37

I’m wearing a floral dress in my work photo on the company website. We’re not a traditional corporate but I am client facing so need to be smart, no jeans etc. so yes.
