Recommendations for comfortable holiday flip flops for beach and sightseeing

Hello
Can anyone recommend holiday flip flops that don't rub and that are suitable both for the beach and a bit of sight seeing? (I have Tevas for longer days out.)

I used to be fine in Havaianas but as I have got older, not only do they rub between the toes but they also blister the top of my foot. I have quite wide and 'high' feet so maybe it's that. I do have Tevas and Birkies but I'm desperate for a pair of rubber flip flops too.

Thanks

Croc Swiftwater / Kadee. I’ve walked miles and miles in my Swiftwaters and they’re so comfortable. I think the Kadees are new and I can’t tell what is different about them, they look very similar.

I bought a second pair so I wouldn’t be sad when they wore out but 4 years later they’re still going.

Birkenstock Madrid EVA, the big buckle ones, so so comfortable!

Im a massive fan of fitflop - think it’s a love / hate thing though as they don’t work for everyone. But I have wide feet and they are so comfy

These are amazing. Lots of places sell them. I got mine direct from Skechers, but Pavers, Next and other places also sell them according to tinterwebs.

They average about £40

thank you for all your suggestions :-)

I already have the Madrid EVAs - they are comfortable and lovely but I'm after a flip flop too.

@PurpleThistle7 which fitflop style would you recommend please?

Not exactly a flip flop but the Skechers meditation ones are fabulous 😍

Personally I like the ones like this as they feel more supportive.

I love these - really comfy and look like ‘normal’ flip flops. I have them in a variety of colours.

thesugarbumfairy · 02/04/2026 14:01

I'm a massive fan of crocs serena - both the 'thong' style and the band style - but they don't seem to sell them any more although you can get them on third party sites and vinted/ebay etc.
I have them in various colours and can walk for miles in them - but also straight from beach into sea as they are rubber and stay on because of the ankle strap.

i quite like the look of the crocs getaway or the classic platform flip - more like a traditional fitflop but with a flatform - they look comfy.

I have iqushion fitflops but they are tight. I don't have particularly wide or high feet. so I don't recommend those.

100% Archies.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 02/04/2026 15:25

I’d never wear flip flops for sightseeing. Too unreliable as footwear and not supportive enough. Much prefer trainers. The mesh ones are quite good.

I got these last year (the ones I got have black shiny beads on the strap) they are very comfortable and look really nice and I'll definitely wear them again this year. edited to add that I did lots of walking around in the heat in them and they were very comfy didn't rub or hurt my feet at all.

I've got a very similar pair from a few years ago from Fitflop. They're still going strong! I don't usually like flip flops but these have been so comfy and I can walk for miles in them.

Johnogroats · 02/04/2026 15:38

Archie’s. I can wear them all day, up hill and down dale.

beanstoastie · 02/04/2026 18:56

I walked up a mountain in Scotland with a pair of fitflops. The iqushion ones are really good.

Lilactimes · 02/04/2026 19:02

Hi @ImwaitingforMadeleine I know you said you weren't keen on Havianas anymore - but they do vary in style. I have some with a much thicker sole and find them really comfortable still even since I've got older!

Isabelle70 · 02/04/2026 20:53

I have the 2 strap FitFlop rubber sliders. I took them to Paris to wear as slippers in the hotel but ended up wearing them as sightseeing shoes one day, so comfy and no issues for my foot with torn ligaments!

ImwaitingforMadeleine · 02/04/2026 21:22

Some good advice, thanks all. I’m going to order Archies and fit flops to try on

I recommend Archies too. The arch support is fab.

Wannabeblueysmum · 02/04/2026 22:21

Archies are amazing. I wear them 24/7. Only flip flops that don't make my chronic pain worse

pandora206 · 02/04/2026 22:28

I have those Fitflop iqushion ones in the bronze colour. I originally bought them to wear for the swimming pool changing area but they are very comfortable and could be worn out and about.
