Fine candy floss hair

Can’t think of a better way to describe my hair! It’s obviously coloured, but I do try to look after it with hair masks/supplements/ good diet etc.
Its definitely got thinner during peri, but HRT has definitely made an improvement.
Is there any magical serum that will give it a bit more weight and hang better? It just always looks flyaway and a bit ‘poofy’..I am struggling with my words today! 😂does anyone know what I mean?

A mixture of highlights and lowlights give depth to my fine hair. Also a Babyliss Big Hair styling brush works wonders. Gives it some volume (without being poufy) with a smooth finish.

I have a Babyliss Big Hair.. had used it before that picture was taken actually! Do you have any hair serum recommendations? I sm currently using MKS oil which smells divine, but still just seems to disappear into my hair!

have you tried colour wow dream coat? It’s an incredible product and really helps blow dry and hair to look smoother and less frizzy. They also do a great leave in conditioner (it’s blue - has money in the name) that would help I think

Mine's the same. The best thing I've found is growing it long, which helps to weight it down a bit. Otherwise though, I really like my Dyson airwrap for styling it straight, looks more natural than using straighteners. Serum wise I quite like the John Frieda frizz-fighting gloss, though I have to be careful as it's a bit on the heavy side. I really enjoyed using Ouai's hair serum and will probably go back to that next. That said, I've recently discovered Oribe (their dry shampoo in the purple tin is the best I've ever tried) so I might see if they have something I can try.

Mine’s similar. I like Aveda damage remedy leave-in conditioner (used after ordinary rinse-out conditioner). I have Dyson Airwrap and Air Straight and prefer the air straight. It doesn’t make it poker-straight- just stops the fluff and frizz.

GreaterCassowary · 03/04/2026 14:05

@Lucia573 Can I ask what you prefer about the AirStraight? I've been wondering whether I should try it but do find the AirWrap really good for straightening so I'm not if I really need the AirStraight as well.

It makes it smoother than the air wrap brushes do. You do it from wet, so pretty quick. But it’s expensive if you’re happy with what you have?

GreaterCassowary · 07/04/2026 19:38

@Lucia573 Interesting, I could be tempted to try as I do have a problem with frizz and more smoothness would be good!

Try a very lightweight smoothing serums that coat the hair slightly and reduce static. Lightweight silicones are usually what give that “hang” and less fluffiness without flattening the hair. You can also try changing your conditioner to something lighter.
