Recommendations for fake tan for pale skin

Fake tan noob here so forgive me if anything I say sounds completely dim.

I used sun beds on and off for a few years (I know, I know), but since having children i decided to actually take my health seriously and stopped using them. Since then, have only used a gradual tanner (the dove gold bottle one) and idk, it looks nice first day but then just goes faint, patchy and weird looking.

Im a bit scared of actual fake tan as I know me being me I will mess it up. Alas, I have come to MN to ask:

  1. Best fake tan for pale skin - and I mean pale, whiter than paper, pink/cool undertone
  2. Best methods of application - are mitts necessary? Where do I start on the body?
  3. Do I put it on my face? If not, what do I do with my face?
  4. I've heard youre supposed to shower after but I just have it in my head that the water will leave streaks and I'll have to scrub my skin off to make it right, which I dont fancy doing. To shower, or not to shower?
  5. How long to leave it on for? I dont wanna be mega dark, just a light but noticeable ooh la la glow
  6. Do i have to just stand there stark naked after applying it?

I was thinking about getting a spray tan but im unsure - is there any difference?

Any other tips/advice appreciated. Sorry for being a noob, please help meeeee

I used Skinny tan in previous years with good success. They have various formulations and all have been good. They also sell tanning mitts which I used and found it really easy to apply. I have very pale skin (aka blue) and they have light versions which are just enough. I followed their instructions and it always came out fine

I’ve used TanLuxe products and never felt ridiculous, and I’ve always struggled with fake tan.

Like you I’m also super pale and have had varying success with the likes of St Tropez and Skinny tan. I always found the Dove moisturiser worked better but still left a few streaks and wore off a bit patchy. I have now discovered Gatineau gradual tanner and it’s brilliant. One layer you gives you a nice glow, two a light tan, and then you go again for a deeper tan. No steaks at all and wears off really evenly.

Last year I used Aldi tanning drops - you mix them with a moisturiser so it's much easier to apply without mess and you can adjust the amount to get the result you want.

I found them pretty good for taking the blue tinge out of my legs!

I came on to recommend the Dove gradual tan but see you don't like that so I have nothing useful to add I'm afraid.

Will be checking out the Gatineau one mentioned above though!

I e recently tried the Solskin gradual tan in the lightest shade and liked it.
I’ve also had spray tans a couple of times and preferred them as they tend to last longer and be more even. If I could afford to do them often then I would!

A mitt really does make a difference. It helps distribute the product evenly and avoids streaky hands. Start from the legs and work your way up, using less product on drier areas like elbows, knees, hands, and feet. For your face, I’d instead use a lighter, face-specific formula or just a gradual tan with niacinamide or hyaluronic acid (so it blends more naturally).

Also super pale. Coco and Eve medium tanning mousse on my pasty body, and Tropic Sundrops mixed with my moisturiser on my face.
Exfoliate and moisturise body the night before, then a not-too-hot shower before applying tan. Leave to dry a few minutes. Shower the next day.
A mitt definitely helps.

I use Bondi one hour tan, but you won't need to leave it on for an hour. Half an hour would do initially. It's tinted dark so you can see where it is going and it doesn't streak so much.

Clarins tanning drops mixed in with my regular body lotion - looks natural and I’m very pale
