This dress for a wedding in Italy?

this one

I saw it in the shop today. It looks gorgeous in real life (better than in the pic) and would really suit my shape.

Only thing I'm not sure on is the colour. Is black ok for a wedding? It will be sunny weather, so I would wear it with bare legs and strappy sandals...

i'd go for brightly coloured sandals - red or orange? (and bag)

cosima · 18/06/2008 18:08

i went to a wedding in spain and black was de riguer for the spanish guests, so i say, yes looks fab, and big sunglasses. no need for coloured shoes

Great dress but I think it needs careful accessorising. I'd go for monochrome - black, white or silver shoes and bag, silver jewellery. If the wedding's in a church you'll need a pashmina or shrug for the service - the locals would be scandalised by bare shoulders.

mazzystar · 18/06/2008 22:59

I agree - keep it monochrome
pashmina
heels
clutch bag
manicured nails
if city wedding likely to be v v glam, almost evening wear type stuff

toddlerhip · 18/06/2008 23:45

I went to an wedding (at lunchtime) in Italy in pink - EVERY OTHER WOMAN was in black. They were in longer, slinkier dresses than the one you have here, i agree almost evening wear but i think it'll be fine with a wrap and i would say black shoes. Remember your sunglasses - everyone will have them. Also, be prepared to stand for ages and not see anything if you don't arrive early enough for a seat. At the one i went to the men and kids all wandered in and out as the mood took them for games, ciagrettes... all pretty weird. Fabulous food though!

2point4kids · 19/06/2008 09:32

Ok great, thanks!

Its not a church do. Its a civil wedding so shoulders should be ok on display. I'll take a pashmina just in case though, thanks for the tip!

Will go for black strappy shoes and clutch bag (and get DH to carry the big bag fll of nappies and wipes and bottles for the DCS lol)
Red toe nails might be nice too.

2point4kids · 19/06/2008 16:11

Been shopping!
I got the dress (last one in my size and they are selling out online too so get yours quick!!)
They didnt have those shoes you linked for me so I ordered them and the glasses online. Hopefully they will all go ok when they get delivered.

I am going to wear it with a big cream pashmina and a big black clutch bag (Primark cheap jobbie, but it looks good!)

Hope you find something good to wear with yours!

2point4kids · 24/06/2008 19:47

Flier - all mine has arrived!

Dress is gorgeous and looks really nice on (even if I do say so myself lol)

Sorry to say though that the shoes DONT MATCH!!!

They are going back to the shop and I think I am going to try a strappy black sandal type thing next!

Hope you are having more luck!

I am in Italy and today it's 36 degrees, so make sure it's not a sweaty sort of number. Go to hairdresser on the day, have a manicure, make sure accessories all MATCH.

Flier · 26/06/2008 12:40

shame about the shoes 2point4kids, I bought them last week but haven't actually tried it all on together, so looks like my shoes will be going back too there seem to be plenty of shiny patent stilletoes for sale in the shops, so I'm sure you'll have no probs finding something else.

hope you have a lovely time
